How many loved Daunte?
Remember the 1999 draft? Green took Daunte who??? We were all mad because we didn't need another QB. Jeff George and Randall Cunningham were just fine.
Gree assured us that he was the best QB of the draft. The SOD!
Remember?
I wonder how many are eating crow now? :roll:Kentucky Vikes Fan

When you require nothing, you get nothing; when you expect nothing, you will find nothing; when you embrace nothing, all you will have is nothing.

How about all the sods that have been screaming for any backup over him every year he's played?

He'll either validate or silence those cries in about a month.

Re: How many loved Daunte?
I admit I hated the pick just because I didn't see why we would plan for the future when we were so close the year before but I've always loved Daunte.

Re: How many loved Daunte?
I didn't have a problem with the pick, but I was really down on Daunte when he was struggling, and having a hard time not fumbling the football. It just made me frustrated. But he has really improved upon that, and I love the man now.

Re: How many loved Daunte?
Not me...I loved Daunte way back when he was playing at UCF...that is part of the reason that I don't like McNabb...it pissed me off that the media thought that he was better than Pep in college...I didn't think so, but just because McCrab played for Syracuse rather than a smaller school like UCF. I never expected the Vikings to take Pep, because I didn't think we needed him...but I was elated that we did get him, because I knew that he wouldn't be forced into the position right away, much like the Oilers/Titans did with McNair...it made McNair a better QB and I knew that Daunte would be ready when they finally put him in...and that ended up being the case.
So yes, I loved Daunte as our draft pick right from the start!BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

I loved the pick, too. I knew it was a matter of time before he became a star...

Re: How many loved Daunte?
I didn't follow football nearly as closely then as I do now. I watched the games, but I was never up on all the front office stuff or the draft, I just rooted for whoever was out there, lol. So I never really had an opinion of Daunte. The only memory I have of him was back in his first year, they showed him on the sideline with his helmet on and the announcers were like "Look at him, he's ready to go and he's the 3rd stringer!" lol

Re: How many loved Daunte?
the only thing i remembered of daunte before we drafted him was that he was beating my huskers at halftime, he said that game was his greatest memory of college even though they lost, so i guess i kind of knew the guy but not that well
