Do you guys think Chilly will realize that maybe next season that he is too valuable on offense and take him off returns and put Jaymar or Darius back there instead?? much like the Bears did with Devin Hester

Or will he just keep him back there to insure we get past the 30 at the start of our drives each time!
The Bears took Hester off of Kick returns because they had a better kick returner, not because he was too valuable.
As long as Percy is as dangerous as he is now, he will remain the kick returner.
Better than hester? doesn't seem possible.
I think it was because they wanted to use him more as a WR, and he couldn't do both.
I think that that's the story as well. Devin Hester was the best kick/punt returner to hit the league since (insert homerism) Desmond Howard. The Bears got to the SB, and stayed in it, with a lot of help from Hester that year. He was "ridiculous".

I still don't think that I would've put him at WR. I mean, Daniel Manning is good, but they had something special in Hester. Now all they have in him is a mediocre WR.
He's just a much better punt returner than he is a kick returner.
He likes to dance around and make people miss but you can't do that on kick returns.
Daniel Manning was way better than Hester after he took over for him.

The other thing to remember is that the reason that Greg Lewis was on the field last play was because Harvin was completely spent.

Likes to dance around? Can't do kick returns? Stats show 4 career kickoff returns for touchdowns in 95 kick returns ... Manning has 1 in 43 returns ... way off the pace.
Manning was better for a decent amount of LAST season ... where he had a great average on 36 kicks, but Hester has done it for longer with a lot more of the big play threat.
To say they switched because they had a better guy is clearly just following the company line (which you don't need to do because you don't work for the Bears). They definitely got Hester off the kick returns to preserve him on offense.
And as for "mediocre receiver." Hester is on pace for 997 yards and 11 TDs this season. Not superstar, but definitely better than mediocre.

I'm not into the whining about the positions.
In order for a team to be a contender they have to have a servicable offense, defense, and special teams.
Whatever players are tossed onto whatever team is the coaching staff's decision and they are theoretically trying to make the team better by utilizing players where they see fit.
I have no problem with that.

    1. If I was the Head Coach of the Bears, I'd start Devin Hester on returns. Hester has 7 receiving touchdowns throughout is whole career in the NFL. He has also 7 touchdowns on punt returns ALONE. And that's not counting the 4 touchdowns on kick returns.
Why ruin the best returner of all time and make him into a decent receiver at best. I just don't get it. Especially when he will get you much more touchdowns on special teams than on offense. It's a shame! It's rediculus!

    2. I hope we continue to use Percy Harvin on kick returns. Especially since he's leading the league in yards per return with over 10 attempts as a ROOKIE among veterans like Joshua Cribbs and Darren Sproles.

    3. In case we don't use Percival Harvin on kick returns, we have an excellent options (maybe even a better options) in Darius Reynaud who has really showed his talent on both kick returns and punt returns. I really like that kid and it's too bad that he's currently injured. I hope he recovers soon.

I have not felt this confident about Vikings return game in many many years. Suddenly, we have TWO big time playmakers.
