How Long Do You Think A.P. Will Wear Purple?

Just currious with the Cap restrictions and the way players seem to have no loyalties anymore....except to the almighty dollar....how many seasons can we expect to keep Adrian Peterson in Minnesota. With our recent past history of losing tallent (One way or another) I am hoping this time will be different and we can lock A.P up for several years.

    Any Thoughts??

    Cheers!

I'll say this, (and ESPN PTI commented on it) that he will hold out next year for renegotiating his contract.
Look at how many RB's get paid more than him.
With the way RB's get treated at that second contract time (after that 3-5 year pull), no doubt he will hold out next year.
His agent would be stupid not to... He wasn't really all that happy with the original one.
After that, i bet he'll stay purple for awhile.

    5 year 17 million.
40.5 IF he jumps through a bunch of hoops.
Everyone here agrees he deserves more, especially with room in the cap.
I say he should hold out...
but it will be tough going negotiating with Z-man.

I believe he's already jumped through some of the very attainable hoops to trigger rather significant bonus clauses.
For instance, by rushing for more than 701 yards he received a bonus of $2.5 million.

That 2.5 is tacked on to his LAST year... 2012.
That's the point when he might earn as much as 12 or so.
The vikings will then renegotiate an extention to help out with cap room.
He deserved a better deal, and i bet he holds out.

Do you even know his actual contract numbers, or are you just spouting B.S. like you always do?
I don't think there are that many RB's getting paid more than A.D.

Re: How Long Do You Think A.P. Will Wear Purple?

Okay, here's a summary of his contract from Rotoworld.com:

7/28/2007: Signed a six-year, $40.5 million contract. The deal includes $17 million in guarantees. Also available is an annual NFL MVP (or NFL ROY in 2007) incentive of $250,000 and a $1 million annual escalator for scoring 20 rushing TDs. He can add $2.5 million to his 2010 salary if he rushes for more than 1,000 yards in two of his first three seasons. Should Peterson rush for 2,000 yards or 20 touchdowns, he adds $1 million each time he does it to the 2011 base salary. 2007: $285,000 (+ $1.225 million roster bonus), 2008: $1.925 million, 2009: $2.310 million, 2010: $2.695 million, 2011: $3.94 million, 2012: Voidable Year, 2013: Free Agent
I think a summary based on his current performance might be - about $30 million over 5 years plus $1 million each time he rushes for more than 2,000 yards or 20 TDs.

I expect Wilf will be happy to pay those bonuses if and when they come due.

But here's my question for everyone saying he should hold out next year - have you ever heard of a second year player doing this?
The TO situation in Philly is the only thing that I can think of that comes close.
I think that guys usually play out at least 4 years of a rookie contract.

So I expect that AD will live out his current contract with the Vikes.
If he's still healthy and productive, we'll resign him for another 5-7 years at about $20-25 million/year with about 40% of that guaranteed.
When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]

Thank You sooner, that's my point.
He felt he got slighted in the draft and leveraged into a not-so-hot deal.
If there's anything Wilf is excellent at, it's negotiating deals.
He's a prime A business man who is very shrewd and knows how to make money.
How much do you think the Vikings' value (his investment) will increase with a new state-of-the-art stadium?

My predictiion... AD will reluctantly hold out (at his agent's wishes) until a new deal is struck.
Possibly at the end of 08.
I think he's happy in Minnesota.
You guys have just got to sell out there though... there's NO EXCUSE for that.
    $50 bucks for LL seats???
    WTF?
If Minn. was close enough for a pickup to drive there on 2 tanks of gas, i bet a bunch of okies would help with attendance as was seen with all the 28 jerseys in the Dallas game.
