i was thinking that too, but then i thought about all of our turnovers so he wont have to punt all that much, but hopefully we dont see this guy at all against the saints and instead we actually score some points on offense

Our punter has been stellar, Edinger hits field goals and now the offense decides to suck ... go figure

well, it's great that we have him, but Mr. Kluwe hardly gets to play. We turn the ball over too much to punt. He may only get one a game or so because we can't last the 3 plays to punt.

A point I have made in a couple of other threads ... it is ridiculous to see your punter punt all of three times but you still have only one offensive TD.

I think it's ridiculous that they call places where you park driveways and places where you drive parkways.

Kluwe is finally recognized by the NFL (and rightfully so) and was named
NFC Special Teams Player of the Month

    League notices Vikings' hot punter
    September 29, 2005

The most pleasant surprise of the Vikings' young season has shocked even himself.

"Actually I have," punter Chris Kluwe said Wednesday after the NFL named him its NFC Special Teams Player of the Month, making him the first Vikings rookie to win a Player of the Month honor.

"I've never noticed myself kicking the ball quite this high before. I guess it's just the adrenaline rush of getting onto the field and knowing it's an NFL game and that this is the big time."

Kluwe has proved a big-time addition since the Vikings claimed him on waivers Sept. 4, replacing veteran Darren Bennett. Kluwe drilled his first punt of the season 62 yards and leads the NFL with a 49.9-yard gross average. His 42.3-yard net ranks third in the league, and six of his 12 punts have gone for at least 50 yards.

"I've always said that once I get an opportunity to get my foot in the door, I'm going to kick as hard as I can to burst that door open," Kluwe said. "I want to hopefully show the coaches that I belong here."

They might have to custom-build a stadium for his booming kicks, though. Kluwe broke a ceiling light in the Vikings' indoor practice facility earlier this month, and he recently told owner Zygi Wilf that he would try to knock down the speaker that faces the owners suite at the Metrodome.

"Just so he doesn't have to be bombarded with quite so much loud noise," Kluwe said

"If at first you don't succeed, parachuting is not for you"
