No, the "The Chiller" isn't proving any point to you at all.
You really think Brad Childress handles contract negotiations?
He says that he wants the guy around, thats it.
How much money he's paid has very little to do with the head coach.
He might be getting a little more than he's earned, but I really think he's been playing well and thought he should have been in the starting role long ago, i'm not a big fan of Hicks.
I'm sorry... Chilly is the best coach the Vikings have ever had... apparently everyone on this site is drinking a little "Chilled" kool-ade after a win over the Raiders.

Re: Herrera signs extension
I love this move.
1. Herrara is good. Is he great? No, but he is a solid guard and he straight up won this job, just like I said he would during the preseason. there are 64 starting RGs in the league. In 5 years, Herrara will be the lowest paid of those 64.
2. The key to an offensive line is continuity. Good OLs play well because they have been together for a long time. That is why the length is so great. It creates continuity because McKinnie, Hutch, Birk, and now Herrara are going to be on it for a long time, and they know it.
3. Herrera is young. That is why the length of the deal is so great.
I think we paid a bit too much. Key word being a bit. If low balled him we would have a holdout on our hands in two years. He is a starter, so we gave him a bit more the average starter's salary."I hate when threads are destroyed by facts and logic."

Re: Herrera signs extension
it doesn't seem like that much they probably put some incentives in it to help the cap later and I like keeping the O-line together to develop.
I've liked Herrera's play so far and now three fifths of our line is here long term.Minnesota Vikings : Simply the best

Only contract Cook has earned, is one to leave out of town!!! Cook sucks. Anyways, I guess that clears up the RG position for us. Herrera been working pretty hard for us. I just hope the money doesn't get to his head, and starts to slack off.Now hopefully we can concentrate on giving Cook a big contract...................................

Was i praising childress in ANYWAY in my responce to you? I was just saying that by you stating "The Chiller" is proving my point" because of his salary, is a pretty dumb statement since he doesnt do anything with the financial end of the franchise.

Re: Herrera signs extension
Hopefully some day he will be playing like the 26th best guard in the NFL.The contract will make Herrera the 26th highest-paid guard in the NFL.
He's improving. Hopefully he'll continue to improve.
