Herrera signs extension
http://www.startribune.com/blogs/vikings/
The Vikings have signed right guard Anthony Herrera to a five-year contract extension that includes $5 million in guaranteed money. The deal is worth a maximum of $15 million with incentives and has a total base value of $13.75 million.
The contract will make Herrera the 26th highest-paid guard in the NFL.
Herrera is playing this season under a one-year, $850,000 tender offer he received from the Vikings as a restricted free agent last March. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season.Kentucky Vikes Fan

He has worked long and hard to get to this point and I hope he can continue to improve and become dominant.Rock out with your cock out!!!

Re: Herrera signs extension
Well i guess that answers our questions at RG.
Now the question is... is it the right answer??
I think he will be fine.
I have always liked his intensity in the game and he does not seem to commit many penalties.
Good move in my opinion

I don't know about this. The 26th highest paid guard in the NFL? Is he worth it?

Re: Herrera signs extension
Its official.
I am going to buy his Jersey (I only buy defensive player jersey's) now that I know he has a good chance of being around for a while.
I really believe that the improvement to the OL play can be attributed to Birk making better pre-snap reads/line calls and Herrerra's play at RG.
All I can say is, "You go Big Boyyyyyyyyyy"
Putting the jersey on order tonight as a Christmas present to me.
;D
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Not a huge fan of this, would have preferred a 1 or 2 year contract extention.
He hasn't show enough yet IMHO to merit this kind of money.
I m like a Ja Rule poster, cause I'm off the wall.

Re: Herrera signs extension
I like it alot. I don't think he is the best player or anything but I think the contract is small enough that even if he doesn't play every snap it is still reasonable. Lock up the lines and then get the skill positions later.

No, the "The Chiller" isn't proving any point to you at all.
You really think Brad Childress handles contract negotiations?
He says that he wants the guy around, thats it.
How much money he's paid has very little to do with the head coach.
He might be getting a little more than he's earned, but I really think he's been playing well and thought he should have been in the starting role long ago, i'm not a big fan of Hicks.
