Here comes the summer of Vikings fans' discontent
http://www.startribune.com/510/story/1076132.html
Looks like the fans are fed up! :-[Bob Lurtsema hears it everywhere these days. In Twin Cities grocery stores. On Florida beaches. Inside corporate conference rooms.
"I have never seen so much discontent from Minnesota Vikings fans," said Lurtsema, who joined the team in 1972 and has been the team's unofficial ambassador for some 30 years.
"So many people are telling me they have no confidence in what the organization is doing," Lurtsema added. "They're saying, 'I give up. I'm not renewing my season tickets. I don't know if I can support this team anymore.'"Kentucky Vikes Fan

When you require nothing, you get nothing; when you expect nothing, you will find nothing; when you embrace nothing, all you will have is nothing.

They obviously picked the most extreme cases they could find to make a story.
Hardly a representative sample of Vikings fans.Zeus wrote:

I dunno, Nodak.....I'm on a Vikings Email list, and 90% of the people on there are pissing and moaning so much, you'd think Les Steckel was coaching the team...with McCombs as the owner!!!

Re: Here comes the summer of Vikings fans' discontent
I own a Custom Cabinetry business and at the job sites with the framers, plumbers , electricians, painters, flooring installers... it is 99 percent negative ( The gay wallpaper guy likes the new uniforms)
The clients I deal with have pretty much the same opinion. IMO unless the team comes out and plays some inspired football the team is going to have a hard time selling tickets.
And I am not saying the team has to win every game, but if they lose they need to look like they gave it all they had.If they lose and look like they could care less if they win or lose, that will be a bad thing.

Re: Here comes the summer of Vikings fans' discontent
I was really backing Childress.
I was happy when he came and happy with some things he done.
I have no more hope... Well a little but its almost all gone.
Big Z and Big C have made some crappy decisions.
They only thing I can think of is they are waiting for the draft and people to make there June 1 cuts. They will have all the money and everybody else will have none.
Other than that I think we will have a crappy year.

Vikings close-to-vest braintrust is taking chance
Brad Childress has a plan, but it's risky for the Vikings to assume they don't need the team's fan base on board.

When I read that article yesterday, I only wanted to find the writers and ask them why, when there's NOTHING to report, they feel the need to sow discontent amongst Vikings Nation.http://www.startribune.com/510/story/1076132.html

Lurtsema struggles to be relevant, and the bozos who wrote this attack piece chose to take his whining and that of a couple ticket-holders and run with it.
I have to wonder - did they bother to talk to anyone who is positive?
They sure didn't put anything like that in the story.

Re: Here comes the summer of Vikings fans' discontent
Well,
this fan is still on board.
I still love my team and plan on being there all season long.
Most of these fans will come running back to their season tickets when the team tears it up.
fair weather?
I wonder.
I dont always agree with or understand the moves the organization makes, but there is a reason they are in the position they are in and we are fans...should they care about what we think? of course, should they stray from their plan to appeasee us?
Heck no.
The sports writers are just making waves as usual.
Go Vikes!!!!I BLEED PURPLE!
