The main difference between Brad and Daunte is that Brad is playing within his ability where as Pep was just trying to do too much. I really think it is an unfair comparison because our whole offense structure totally changed when Daunte went down. We were still trying to be an explosive offense instead of a run-oriented ball controlled team. Putting everything on Pep's sholder's was unfair and he suffered for it.
Agreed. We were still running an offense like we had randy.

    The Tale Of Two Q-Backs

    [ Passing ]
    Name CP/AT YDS TD INT
    D Culpepper 139/216 1564 6 12
    B Johnson 64/112 638 3 1

Something to ponder?? Are the vikings better off with Brad? I think so and here is why, Pep wasn't having that great of a season..matter of fact he was having a terrible season. I know its easy to throw pep under the bus now, who knows you take away the 12 picks and give him a O-line to protect him with more time in the pocket.. things could be different and provided he didn't blow- up his knee. But there is some truth to "He misses randy to go to" pep tends to panic when thing go bad, thus you get poor performance. I believe pep and randy together was a force that drew fear in most opposing teams defense.Seperate them and they are very average! I hope the best in speedy recovery for pep! He still has many miles left in his career and maybe he can adjust and come back. But for now Brad is the perfect fit for this offense he the spark the vikes needed along with RB Moore the vikes have a serious shot at representing the NFC @ the super bowl. Brad is no hall of famer but he is a damn heady Q-back, call him check down or whatever as long as he can continue to improve to vikes running game and keep the ball moving in forward direction with little or no penalty's, the passing game will come back and brad will start lighting up the scoreboard just in time for playoffs and Tice will keep his job ! :headbang:

C'mon man, can we quit beating that poor dead horse. This is one of several posts concerning BJ vs DC. What if this, what if that. What matters is that we are in the hunt and we are doing it as a team.
...Rodgers had to hold on the ball longer, giving players like Jared "I am completely insane and will literally eat your children" Allen time to sack Rodgers again. And again. And again. Actually I think Rodgers may have nightmares about Jared Allen the rest of the year.

Its not a comparison, its what Daunte can take from our teams play this year without him.

i hope daunte sees that he doesn't need to force a play to get the offense clicking. if he takes his time and gets the ball to our WR, TEs and RBs i bet it'll make his life a lot easier

    Thanks Josdin

This is kind of a dead horse ... but I do know one thing ... Duante would not underthrow so many damn balls over 20 yards ... our receivers have stepped up, our line has stepped up, our schedule has lightened up and our running backs have decided to stop being whiners and run hard ... those are the differences ... Sure Brad has managed the games well and moved the ball when needed, but thiking that Daunte would not have won these three games is not fair to Pep ... all we can do is be happy we signed Brad and we dont have Hill playing, look forward to the rest of the season and hope that the offense gets a big play arm back from D.C. next year.

Re: Having Brad play may help Daunte.

This to me is obscenely funny. Just like how Dikta and Allen just laughed at the email outta MN that asked if BJ was better than Cpep.

You take one year.....take away his line, his running game, D is to this point sad, and put the load on Cpep's shoulders. Yah, he is gonna press. And he should. If you work and try harder than the guy next to you, (and I have seen this at work) ...the other guy is gonna pick it up.

Brad came in and has done a great job. But he is no match, arm, legs, etc. for Cpep. No cut at all to Brad. I bet me and my Bears friend at the coffee shop have had the conversation about how important the signing of BJ was 20 times since we did. And the Bears didn't sign him. What if they had?

No different to me than the Gus F. should start threads from years ago. Gus comes in, does what he was paid for and EVERYONE ....well it seemed wanted him to start. How STUPID does that look in retrospect now? Same thing with Brad. I love what he does, but Cpep is the man.

Can he learn something? I hope so. Cpep loved Ferotte, and, I am sure, since Brad signed here mostly cause of Cpep, he loves BJ too. But ya'll make it out like BJ is brilliant beyond the scope of Cpep. Ain't so. You have been listening to the silly announcers that say he has only seen two coverages. He can read better than that. And as bad as our O was..could you have not pressed? What do you have to loose, besides your life when your sitting in the pocket taking 6 sacks a game?

Well, lets give Brad what Dante was facing at the first of the year. Then we can talk about it. Yes, he can read coverages, so can Dante. But the line as sad as it is now, was making a very mobile quarterback, who woulda been MVP had Manning not had his steller year, last year look bad. No running game to take the heat off. BJ is great, make no mistake. But our line play the first four or five games was HORRIBLE, not bad. Cpep does press, but, man, what do you do?
No Culcrapper CAN'T READ DEFENSES!!!! That's why he was getting sacked, fumbling and throwing interceptions all the time!! Screw Culpooper. Cut him and keep Brad and draft a QB for the future in next year's draft.
