the difference is that we had a RUN GAME. think when we couldnt run the ball with brad vs the panthers and giants. the offence was brutal.

if we gave daunte a run game and no fumbles, he would have been 10x better.
I thought in that first drive that Brad thought he was Daunte though I was a little nervous.

I think we all see what Brad does....Focus in on one guy, if not open..over throw it, see ya next play........John Gruden hated that mentality...So did Denny...But he is safe...So yes; if Daunte can do that sometimes...I am down...

Once again, he took what the defense gave him...the middle was wide open...so he took it!

no to mention he SLID, instead of DOVE, leaving his legs not vulnerable to getting cut out.

He could be such a great QB if he had the mentality of Johnson. His cannon arm, his ability to escape the blitz WHEN needed, or just take the small play and depend on your defense to get you the ball back.
Pep was pretty good at this last year...I think he was trying too hard to compensate for Moss's absence this year.

I agree. Brad is the better QB all around. Culpepper has a lot to learn. Tons of talent but mentally not there. And is the O-line playing any different than in the first 5 games? There is alot of pressure on Brad yet. Brad is the by far superior pocket passer. He steps up at the right time while Culpepper hesitates or steps to the side. I think half of the pressure on Daunte was by his own doing. The o-line generally expects the pocket to be in a certain area, Culpepper moves out of that pocket to quickly, thus pressure from the o-line as he steps into their blocking lanes.

Am I completely wrong here? Just an opinion/theory yet I am no football philosopher. I don't think Culpepper alone is the answer to win a championship. Unfortunately that is how he plays.

If Pepp is prepared to take on board the positives that Brad brings to the QB position he will be a better player for it. A player should never stop learning and trying to improve and Pepp is no exception.Great win over the Packers, made my weekend. :headbang:

Re: Having Brad play may help Daunte.

The main difference between Brad and Daunte is that Brad is playing within his ability where as Pep was just trying to do too much. I really think it is an unfair comparison because our whole offense structure totally changed when Daunte went down. We were still trying to be an explosive offense instead of a run-oriented ball controlled team. Putting everything on Pep's sholder's was unfair and he suffered for it.
