Re: Has Adrian Peterson Finally Silenced the Critics?
There will always be critics of the Vikings.
I don't know exactly why, but we are one of the teams the media loves to hate.
Whenever we have a good season the media passes it off as a fluke.
And when we have a bad season they present it as though it was expected.
The only exception I have seen of this was late this past season when we were looking good for the playoff race.
All forms of media jumped on the bandwagon until we lost to the Skins, then the media just said "I knew it, that's our good ole Vikings".
Lets face it though.
The sports media today is nothing but criticizm.
Every sports reporter is looking for the next big scandal or the next big phony.
It would be impossible to have a sports career these days without being overly criticized.

I think if one were to look at it you would see that almost all of the teams that are in the small market arena's just don't get the press the big boys do if for no other reason other than demographics and targeted audiences.
The local boys around here sure don't cut the Deadskins or Panthers much slack. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

We are not a bad team at all, but it seems like we are always the underdogs according to the media nomatter who we are playing.
The media never expects a Vikings win.
They expect us to choke.
Admittedly we do choke against some teams we should beat, but still...

He can't pass block for pooh either. The only criticisms I've heard is that he isn't durable, which I'm not convinced of yet.
I didn't see him even get the chance to really pass block all that much, I would rather see AP taking passes than pass blocking anyways.
A running back needs to know how to pass block effecively.
Many times plays are called that have the backs going out into pass patterns however, at the line the D shows blitz and the O audibles out to another pass where the RB needs to stay in for protection.
I like AD out in space catching swing passes 1 on 1 vrs a line backer.
However, he needs to know how to pass block better before being trusted on all pass plays or pass situations.

The Patriot fans were whining about not getting respect when they were undefeated going into the playoffs.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. Mark Twain

I don't think he's silenced anyone yet. No one ever criticized his talent or ability....their chief concern was his durability, and as this year showed, that is still a legitimate issue.

The rersponse to the article, by Eric and answer to it by Bill are well worth reading.
If you didn't see them you may want to go back to the article and check it out.
Bill is the man!“What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. It’s the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"
