Ahhh...a voice of reason. Well put Snow. You grasp the situation with perfect clarity. As I said in my original post he exposed himself to speculation, or in your words jokes and ridicule. So he will have to man up or become the brunt of jokes like Ricky Williams."oaklandzoo24" wrote:

How about reading the article and other parts of the thread?Typical pothead. And yeah, i used to smoke weed.
You clearly read the title and made you're post.
He has a legit reason.
-By the way, just because he smokes weed, doesn't make him a bad person.
It's no reason to label him... Hell, plenty of good people do it.
Its pissing me off.
Weed is not a big deal.
What I really dont get is how some people arent giving Percy a chance because of this, yet look at how much we praise Cris Carter after the addictions he struggled with.
He had to go through the jokes and ridicule.
He didn't just earn respect on the field but off the field as well.
He was a stand up guy.
He didn't try to buck the system and come out in the media and suggest he was getting away with crap and smoking weed in the offseason like RM.
CC just stayed away from any controversy.
Earned!
Unfortunately, Harvin's actions put him in this predicament of being scrutinized.
His own actions!
He would only have upside if he didn't test positive.
He wouldn't have fell to us at our spot.
Same way with Moss in the draft.
Glad to have him on the team.
Glad to give him the chance to be a stand up guy on and off the field.
Hope he has a full and speedy recovery. I'm happy to give Percy a chance to prove himself on the team. He could be a great asset for the Vikings for years to come. But I will wait to see what he does with this chance. Actions of reformation speak far louder than words. As in C.Carter.
Just food for thought for you pot proponents...There are a lot of things that are legal for the general public to consume that are not legal for NFL players. Don't expect pot to be legal in the NFL any time soon.
A. Bunker out!

Re: Percy Harvin a no-show at rookie minicamp
Harvin was a no show at the Rookie Symposium yesterday.
The NFLN was playing it up at the beginning of their segment and then towards the middle, they came on and said that Harvin was excused by the Doctors.
Sickness? Again! Is there something wrong with this kid physically.
It is convenient to get out of mini camp and the symposium.
It is probably just a coincidence.
It is amazing how it was played it up... even on the NFLN.
They are trying to give the guy a bad name.
Anyone that only saw the first 30 minutes would have thought that he was a bad apple.

Here is another link to Symposium Info, not specific to Harvin.PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Minnesota Vikings first-round draft pick Percy Harvin was sent home from the NFL Rookie Symposium after becoming ill, organizers said.
It does go with the topic of cunducting oneself in a positive manner.
Same stuff as last year, just a different day and a different report.

True, and why did Eisen and the NFLN start the show that way, "No Show."Well technically he wasn't a no show at the symposium, he stayed for a little while lol
The sad truth, he is labeled already.
He will have to earn respect on the field and have to carry himself off the field in a squeaky clean manner or they will jump all over the "Bad" Gator.

I was trying to find a a clip of Eisen playing it up but I didn't see one.
There was the "Importance of the Symposium" clip with Dukes and Woodson where Eisen says, "in this case there were 255 not 256 rookies at the symposium."
LOL!

Re: Harvin no-show at rookie minicamp (May) & sent home from rookie symposium (June)
I realize I am guilty of being an Eisen by using the "sent home" instead of "ruled sick and allowed to go home."
