They might not be magic, but you have to hit on those picks in order to be a good team.
Part of the reason we are so talent poor right now is that we gave up a lot of those mid/late-round picks during the Childress era.
Across his tenure as coach we gave up a 6 (for Artis Hicks), a 7 (for Toniu Fonoti), a 1st and two 3rd rounders (for Jared Allen), we had no 4th rounder and no 6th rounder in 2009, no 1st rounder and no 3rd rounder in 2010 and last year we gave up the 3rd round pick for Moss.
You've got to hit on those mid-round picks, and having extras can't hurt.

I say we trade our 1st this year to Indy for their 1st and 2nd this year and a first next year. with that pick we take Luck. Then we trade our high second to the Rams for their 1st and 3rd this year. With that pick we take Kalil. Then we still have Indy's 2nd to pick up the best G available, should be starter material that high in the 2nd. We then package one of our 3rds and a 4th to trade up with Miami for their second to take the best CB still on the board. After that we just take the BPA with the rest of our picks this year and we still have 2 1sts for next years draft. Makes it a two year rebuild.
Why must you defend everything this FO does....to the point of making your self look like a yes man.
