Hands off the panic buttons! :)

OK, I know people are frustrated. At 1-4 we have a right to be. But there are a lot of threads out there discussing everything that is wrong with the team right now.

So here is a little bit about what is right with the team right now.

The offense played the best half of the season last night. Not perfect, no, but definately better than they had in the first 3 1/2 games. Harvin is more natural in the slot, Moss is a legitimate deep threat, AD is running the ball well. The Jets have an amazing defense, yet we were able to move the ball well against them. This is promising. Dallas and Green Bay are the next two games, and neither one can boast a defense anywhere near the level of the Jets.

Moss is a great addition. It is what the offense was missing. It will obviously take Favre and Moss a little bit to get on the same page, but I think that by the time we travel to NE, they will be putting up close to 30 points every game like last year.

Couple that with our defense, which is still strong, and we have a good team. Losing Ced hurts, but hopefully Cook will be back on the field soon. We are a better team than our record shows.

Dallas and Green Bay will bring us some much needed wins. A solid win against the Pats will bring us to 4-3. In this division, that will put us very much in it. The second half of our season is considerably easier than the first half, and a 10-6 or 11-5 record is very attainable right now. And that will be enough to clinch the NFC North for the 3rd straight year.

I am not hitting the panic button yet. Not even thinking about it yet. I am excited for this team still.

We're 1-3, but 1-4 is probably going to be true very shortly.

You're either clairvoyant or just able to see the blatantly obvious.

I agree with your good points. But the fact still stands our most important position, the quarterback, is playing very poorly.

2.4 turnovers a game by the qb.

    56% completion percentage.
    30th in a field of 32.

We can't blame the WR's...favre has just been missing his passes.

Dallas has the second best offense in football in YPG.

I seriously doubt we will be 4-3.

Remember Favre gets even worse in the last 4 to 5 games of the season. He did it the last 3 years...though it would be hard to be worse than a QB rating of 67.

P.S. I deleted those redundant posts that you didn't like.

It is going to be a long season with him.
Obviously Favre is not playing well right now ... that cannot be argued. But spouting crap to try and prove your point is just silly ... when all you need to do is talk about the 4 games he has played this season.

As a matter of fact ... in the last 4 games of the season last year, Favre had a 107 rating with 1200 yards, 11 TDs and 2 INTs.

While there should be a mega-since of urgency at this point ... the season is CLEARLY not lost.

The NFC looks terrible, we started 1-3 just TWO years ago and won the division with what was - talent wise - not as good a team as we have now.

This Dallas game is obviously very important. We MUST win this game to get things turned around.

But while the season is not promising ... it is definitely not a lost cause ... yet.

Favre is not going to be better physically as the year goes on and is arm is hurting him now. I just don't think that he is going to make it to the end and we will be in a bind. I hope I am wrong.
I bet you could use a cool one huh Clark...Now you're talkin Eddie...

Those are great stats posted above, but we went 1-3 last December.

1-3 isn't the end of the world, but we NEED to get some wins.

We're not going to repeat like last year. You say we went 1-3 last december, that's true. But then again, Favre didn't have a hurt elbow last season.

His elbow is seriously bothering him. No other excuse for all those missed passes last night.

HOwever, people need to realize, we lost to two very good teams this season by a score each time. we've been in every single game. It's not like we're getting blown out. We're just barely losing.

    in 4 games, we've lost 3 by 5 points, 4 points and 9 points.

Those games hinge on only a few plays.

A dropped interception, a fumble, a bad pick, a defensive meltdown on one drive. And Penalties, penalties, penalties.

We're not playing our best ball yet, and when that does, we'll be kicking ass and taking names. Problem is, I jus thope it's not too late.

    Excuse me???!!!

I didn't "spout crap" Favre had a rating of 107 last year.
In the four games IN DECEMBER, he didn't match that rating a single game.

    Bears--F-bombs rating 106== loss
    Panthers--F-bomb's rating 73--loss
    Bengals--F-bomb's rating 73==win
    Cardinals--F-bombs rating 79--loss

So if F-bomb(Favre) shows the same consistency as he has IN DECEMBER---the last two years---and using his rating so far this season 67(only Bradford, Andreson, and Claussen(a backup) are worse) Then his rating IN DECEMBER---should be in the 50's.

Giving away 3 turnovers a game....which F-bomb has done consistently so far this year....is a recipe for a loss..in 80% of the games.

if we don't bench F-bomb, we are not going to make the playoffs.

Re: Hands off the panic buttons! :)

In checking out the team stats this morning, I discovered the following about the Vikings:

    1. They have scored 7 points so far in the first quarters of their four games combined! This is not the way to generate momentum against our opponents.

    2. They are -4 in takeaway/giveway statistic. Only 2 teams (Baltimore and San Francisco) are worse in this area.

In order to be more effective during the rest of the season, I think the Vikings need to score earlier in games. It would also help if the defense could force more turnovers, especially if those turnovers could generate points.

Just my thoughts on what can right the ship for the Vikings for the rest of the year...
