God, please let this not be us in '08
Heard this on local sports radio. It was an ex-Bronco saying how "We had all the pieces from the previous Super Bowl year there. We had all the weapons, except Elway, the star QB. We went 6-10".
First thought: Gawd, that could be us this year. I hope not !!
Takeaway: you can have awesome weapons, and if you don't have a stud QB, you can go 6-10. Ouch.

God forbid anyone having a positive attitude on this forum....pathetic :o
I see Viking fans being ridiculed all the time on other sites...this is a good example of why.

I'm a Vikings fan... and I've been saying we're going to beat the Colts in the Super Bowl since May.
As long as you're not generalizing or anything....
Re: God, please let this not be us in '08
Well I didn't say ALL Viking fans so ...no I was not generalizing...
Re: God, please let this not be us in '08
Wouldn't we have had to win the Super Bowl in '07 for that to be us in '08?
Our team is on the rise, not the fall.
Re: God, please let this not be us in '08
Well we still have the QB we had last year
;)
Plus you can't make me believe we're going to do worse than last year. the additions created us at least one more win
Re: God, please let this not be us in '08
Here are some of the changes and injuries that the Broncos had from 1998 to 1999:
-as mentioned, replaced HOF QB coming off his best season (QB rating) with Brian Griese
-lost 3-time all-pro RB Terrell Davis after four games and replaced with Orlandis Gary
-lost future HOF TE Shannon Sharpe after four games and replaced with Dwayne Carswell
-lost all-pro LB John Mobley and replaced with rookie Al Wilson
-lost 2-time all-pro FS Steve Atwater and replaced with Eric Brown
-also swapped LT Harry Swayne for Matt Lepsis and CB Darren Gordon for Dale Carter
So other than that, they were the exact same team.
In other words, don't worry.
If you want to just look at how the QB play will affect the team this year, I'd tell you that it will be better than last year.
The rest of the roster is improved.
So we should be an improved team.
Luck/chance/injuries come into play, but you can't predict that and right now the Vikes look to be one of the better teams in the league.

This will happen to the pack not us... when you have a franchise QB and he leaves... usually that teams suffers.
Re: God, please let this not be us in '08
Well, I personally have us at 10-6 and making the playoffs this year. So much for pessimism. I also see us making at least the NFC Championship Game.
I am not saying we will go 6-10. In fact, with AP and our defense, I would be very surprised. But I am just saying, the thought did run through my mind when they mentioned not having the QB there...
I am still not convinced that Tarvaris can really read an NFL defense and then react accordingly, though.

Let it be the Putzies instead...they are due for a letdown.
