That is a valid query. With Jimmy K and Rosenthal back, our running game will be ALOT better. Without O. Smith we don't have to woory about teams knowing its a pass when he leaves the field and a run when he is on it. Hopefully the depth at receiver, and tight end, will offset the loss of a dominant force downfield. I really only worry about the loss of Linehan and the addition of Loney. I am not that fond of the thought of Tice calling plays either.
Everybody at the same time.... BRING BACK BUD!! BRING BACK BUD!!! BRING BACK BUD!!! Here are a couple things to think of when talking about coaches... When Tony Dungy was the D Coord with the Vikes, we had a great Defense!! now as the coach of the Dolts he has a high powered O, Brian Billick, coach of the "nevermores" was the O Coord with the Vikes and now is known for the D in B. It boils down to having the right players with the right attitudes, coaches can only call plays at the start, if the O or D has the right read, its the players that have to think on thier feet and get the job done.. A good coach, GM, and owner will plant the seeds.......but its up to the...YADDA YADDA YADDA

Re: Getting sick of the same question!

Bennett is important to the OFFENSE, but so is Burleson stepping up and showing he can be a 1,200 yard kind of guy. Moss is a big loss, but we should be just fine ...
And we did have all that cap room before we dealt Moss. We could have gotten P.Williams, Cowart, Smoot and Sharper and still kept Moss (would have lost Nap, Williamson and our seventh round pick though, but that Randy guy may be worth that stuff) ... but the past is the past ... Randy asked for players for years and now that he is gone we are going out and getting them, I think he would have been a lot less of a distraction had we made these moves a while ago.

I'm getting sick and tired of the same old question -- "Can the Vikings win without Randy Moss." It's like Minnesota NEVER had a running game at all.
This year with Kleinsausser healthy and a stable of good running backs, who cares? Sure, passing is important to keep the defense honest but Randy never was 100% of the offense.
Here's another example of what I mean in a report on this upcoming season from Fox Sports.
Get off it guys! Look at something else beside Moss.

Can Daunte Culpepper win without Randy Moss?
    82 receptions, 1,306 yards, 13 touchdowns ...
Can Daunte Culpepper and Mike Tice concoct the post-Moss formula for success in Minnesota?
Those numbers represent Randy Moss' averages over his seven tumultuous seasons in Minnesota. But the seven-year itch prompted a blockbuster off-season trade to Oakland where Moss can be as bad as he wants to be.

So can the Vikes make up for that loss of production? Daunte Culpepper thinks so, and will be properly motivated to prove that point all season long. Judging from his comments after the season ended ("He's my good friend, but you almost get to thinking that maybe enough is enough.") the Pro Bowl quarterback was prepared to file divorce papers on his main passing squeeze.

Minnesota's leading man Culpepper will have plenty of intriguing options, and he did throw 26 touchdown passes to guys not named Randy Moss last season. Nine of those went to the team's new resident No. 1 receiver, Nate Burleson, who recorded his first career 1,000-yard season in 2004. Veteran Marcus Robinson also chipped in eight touchdowns last season and will get a chance to expand his role with Moss no longer on the north side. The Vikings also added former Ravens receiver Travis Taylor to the mix.

The mystery lies in how much to expect from first-round pick Troy Williamson, who has been described as possessing Moss-like qualities, though there is only one Randy. The South Carolina product doesn't quite have Mosss size at 6-foot-2, but is a lightning rod downfield. Can he handle being "one of the picks they traded for Randy Moss?"

While Culpepper may resort to using his other targets more often, it still may not translate to more production due to the 'Randy Effect.' Moss demanded double-coverage on nearly every pass play, so the field was more open for other Vikings receivers. His departure puts added pressure on each receiver to be even better than they were last season.

All that said, the Vikings may have made the right move trading Moss (gasp!) when they did. The cap space created by removing Moss' salary was huge, allowing major defensive renovations in free agency (CB Fred Smoot, S Darren Sharper, DL Pat Williams). Plus, now there is no question who this team belongs to — Daunte Culpepper. Some Moss critics believe the star receiver's presence stifled Culpepper's leadership abilities.

This will be an interesting team to watch, even without Moss. Pro-trade fans will point to the stretch of games he was injured last season, when the Vikings still put up over 23 points per game in five Moss-less contests. The anti-trade contingent will shout back you can't replace arguably the NFL's most talented receiver and his nearly one touchdown per game.

No matter what happens, watch for Daunte Culpepper to carry an extra chip on his shoulder in 2005.
Oops. The title of this thread kind of threw me off. I thought you were getting sick of people asking you how you can type with boxing gloves on.

With the deep bench of running backs that we have, our offense should do fine. I think we should run atleast 25-30 times a game. Besides we have alot of weapons on offense....

What? they shut down our running game? No problem. Just throw it to Burleson or TT over the middle. Huh? They shut down our recievers as well? That's ok. Just throw it to Jimmy K or Jermaine Wiggins underneath.

    We will be fine.

I think burleson and culpepper both will be fine. we have a defense to make up for the absence of moss this year, something we never had when moss was with us. we still have offensive weapons, there just not big names. our running game should be could with jimmy back. I really don't see to many weaknesses in our team this year. Man i wan the season to start.
