Getting a bit more optimistic for the Washington game...
I know it is only preseason, and preseason is never a good indication of the regular season, but...
Watching how well our first team defense has played, and then looking at how badly Washington's first team offense played, I now think we stand a pretty good chance in the MNF game against Washington on Sept 11.
Brunell has looked horrible:
vs Pats: 7/16 for 51 yards, 0 TD
vs Jets: 3/6 for 45, 0 TD
vs Bengals: 4/9 for 66, 0 TD, 1 INT
And even if Portis is back in time, he will be raw because he hadn't seen any playing time in the preseason.
I expect, however, that we will see TJ Duckett, who hasn't had a great year since 2003.
The game is starting to shape up into a defensive grudge match, and I think our defense could prove to be the more effective of the two...

I agree 100%, even before the Portis injury I still beleived we have a strong chance to beat them. Now with Portis out, and what looks like a still not there offense struggaling in the preseason.I see no reason why we cant win!

Theres NOTHING greater then a Florida Gator!

when didnt we stand a chance against them??
Lol.
Well, I still don't think the game is in the bag.
And If you want to believe the odds makers the Skins are favored by 6.
When I made my predictions at the beginning of the season, I had the Washington Game chalked up as a loss.
Season opener on MNF in Washington on Sept 11th... the skins have a lot to play for.
But I really think we can take them now.
Our defense should be able to shut their offense down.
Their defense will probably do the same to ours, but the one thing you can count on with BJ is no mistakes and consistency.
We may not put many points on the board, but we will put some up, which is more than I think the skins will be able to do...Zeus wrote:

We better go 1-0.
My new neighbor is a big Redskins fan. We've already got our flags up and flying.
I've been invited to the enemy's den to watch the game.
I prefer a 30-10 blowout for the Vikes with nothing left to say.
I think BJ will manage the game well and strike hard when opportunity knocks.
His blindside is protected well.
Our front four will pressure and let the backs play back.
let's go Vikes, I can't wait much longer!!Bring me the prisoners; I want them alive!

I agree, I think the Vikes stand a pretty good chance of walking out of Washington with a win.. Our starting defense has looked awesome this preseason.. Erasmus James and Kenechi Udeze have been beasts at the DE position.. I can't wait to see those guys play the whole game together.. They seem to feed off of each other, and you add the Williams boys to the mix, and it makes our whole defense's jobs a bit easier.. I can't wait to see what our team can do when playing the whole game the whole season..

lol i know what you mean man, it certainly isnt in the bag for us, but i thought all along that we would certainly have as good a chance as they do to win this game..our defence can win us a ton of ball games this year, and as long as we can take their passing game completely away from them, an unhealthy clinton portis will struggle to carry their team all game long..as long as we hold them to 10-14 pts, Brad will be able to get us ahead..this is sort of how i see our entire season going, with the offense only needing to score 17-20 points to win most ball gameswhen didnt we stand a chance against them??

Re: Getting a bit more optimistic for the Washington game...
I think if we can control their blitz and shut down their pass rush, that will beat the Skins right there, that's all the Pats were doing, Brady had all the time in the world. He picked apart they're D, I think Wiggins will have a field day.

Re: Getting a bit more optimistic for the Washington game...
Brunell is not going to produce like he did last year.
Their defense looked HORRIBLE against the pats!
Theyve got a good recieving core, and (normally) a good defense.
I have always been optimistic for the game, but now our chances just look that much better, with Brunell suckin like he is, and the possibliity that Portis may not play!
If our defense can hold them under 20 points, weve got a great shot to win!!
