I am looking at Garcia from eyes that watched a lot of Browns games and listening/reading everything from last year. He is not near what he used to be; not even close. He is a walking turnover.Calm down kids, Garcia can beat us. He has great footwork, he's a perennial Pro Bowler who contributes an average of twenty touchdowns annually (versus about twenty-three for your boy Daunte), and when he gets protection he can carve up a defense. He also played - and I know this may seem wild - spectacular football for the Browns. He made plays with a constantly collapsing pocket, and a lot of the picks he threw were balls tipped by his receivers. He makes plays with his legs. But he does have a weakness:
If we get to him, they lose.
If we don't, look for Scotty Vines and Marcus Pollard to make some plays against us. Winfield should be fine on Roy Williams, provided Sharper covers the cover 2 gap.
Garcia is funny to watch with his "happy feet" and then tkae the sack. Yes, he did not have a good line here and most of the INT's were not tipped passes but rather poor judgement on his part. That is part of the reason they got rid of him.

Re: Garcia announced starter vs. Vikes by Juron.
He hasn't done anything since 2002 with the 49er's.
Hasn't been to the probowl since 2002.
Hasn't thrown 20 td's since 2002, when he had 21.
Has 1 td vs. 2 ints this year.
Has no offensive line to save his a$$, K.Jones is nowhere to be found, and their receivers are all probably on the IR by now .... maybe it's just me, but not to worried.

Don't worry, my name is JEff, (what WHAT whAT WhaT who said that) won't be in there for long. He will get leveled trying to be the tough guy he isn't, then they will have to insert Joey.I much rather have Joey Harrington in there than Garcia. Garcia has more experience and is a better QB. Oh well, the vikes win by 10 instead of 14

For the pounding he takes, most QB's would've been out a long time ago.

His 2003 and 2004 seasons were average at best ... and SPECTACULAR is a little over-doing it. He was ok in Cleveland and I think got a little of a bum wrap, but 10 TDs and 9 Ints in 11 games with only 1731 yards and a 76.7 rating is hardly spectacular ... I do not care who or what you are playing with.
Hell, I hate me some T.O., but Garcia has NEVER been productive without him ... and even in his good years with that jack @ss had weak YDS/Completion because his arm is weak.
All this said, you don't take anyone lightly, but to even mention Pro Bowler, spectacular and Jeff Garcia in the same post is about three years over due. Hell ... Harrington had better numbers last year and his supporting cast was about the same ... Hell Harrington has had at least two of his best five games in his career against the Vikes ... I would rather see old man Garcia.
--------
Hrm....Daunte Culpepper, 2005:
6 TDs, 12 picks, 72.0
Perennial pro bowler?
Jeff Garcia's arm is weak, yes. So was Joe Montana's. He's simply a sharp player, but yes, he does admittedly need tools around him. Most quarterbacks do. Ask our former starter.
Edit: I noticed how you ignored one of the more telling statistics. He averages 21 Touchdowns a season, and that's with less games than say Daunte, and without Randy Moss. That simple. He produces.
I celarly stated that if Garcia was worth a d@mn in the last THREE YEARS maybe it would be worth being worried. If Daunte had sucked a$s for three years I would want his ass gone too ... but Daunte only sucked for about 4 out of seven games.
And 21 TDs a year is not many over a career that is as short as Garcia's by the way ... average at best over a career (Hell DC averages 22 and you think he sucks right? and that is counting this season)
My points were clearly mapped out ... He has not done sh!t since 2002, PERIOD. No argument at all can be made about ... HE DID PRODUCE and that is great ... but saying he produces in the present tense is flat wrong.
Coming from someone who wants to bash D.C. because he has done "nothing without Moss" it is fairly surprising that you would be on Garcia's jock when he has clearly done nothing without T.O. Hell, at least DC has a short run without Moss last year to hang his hat on ... Garcia without T.O. is almost laughable from the get go ... hell even with TO in 2003 he was average at best ...
And to even mention Montana as a "weak armed" quarterback in a similar class as Garcia is also a joke ... Garcia is not a perrinial winner ... Montana is ... and Montana was not "weak armed" he just was not "strong armed" ... there is a serious difference.
Im not saying he wasn't a good quarterback, but he definitely IS NOT one anymore ... that isn't to say he might not carve us as many bad QBs have done before ...

Actually, this might be an accurate statement in this case. Wasn't it T.O. who questioned Garcia's "preferences?"
