Garcia announced starter vs. Vikes by Juron.

LLEN PARK, Mich. -- Jeff Garcia will start at quarterback for the Detroit Lions on Sunday against Minnesota.

Dick Jauron made the announcement Wednesday, two days after taking over as Lions coach on an interim basis in place of the fired Steve Mariucci.

Jauron also said cornerback Dre' Bly apologized to his teammates at a meeting Wednesday morning. Bly was harshly critical of quarterback Joey Harrington and the team's management during media interviews Monday and Tuesday.

"If we'd had production on offense, in particular the quarterback position, Mooch wouldn't have been fired," Bly told the Detroit Free Press earlier in the week. "If Jeff Garcia hadn't gotten hurt, we wouldn't be in this position today. Mooch wouldn't have gotten fired."

I much rather have Joey Harrington in there than Garcia. Garcia has more experience and is a better QB. Oh well, the vikes win by 10 instead of 14

Garcia will be in until Big Pat falls on him. Either way, our defense will frustrate garcia and his group of busted first round wr's.

That is such great news. I watched Garcia all last year stink it up! He is aweful!

I agree .... every once and awhile Harrington can pull a good game out of his :bum:

Where as with Garcia, you know what your getting and he has lost a step or two in his scrambling ... Not as worried about him breaking out a good game.

He's better than Harrington. I thought Garcia took too much of the blame last year. They didn't have a line (Cleve.), they didn't have a running game, and their receivers were dropping passes left and right (they continued to do this this year, including against us). Not to mention, they had an idiot for a head coach. I just wrote what I read, and I see that Detroit this year is similar to Cleveland last year.

garcia is a bag, that whole offense is brutal, they dont go full out they dont hold on to the ball and they cant run the ball

How many times do Jeff fumble the ball or have the shotgun snap bounce off his face? He was just plain aweful and made very poor decsions.

Either way...both their QB's royally suck!
