Despite playing indoors on the speedy turf of the Metrodome, don't expect the Bears and Vikings to put on repeat performance of the 48-41 shootout the teams engaged in at Soldier Field in October....

If the articles were from the Star-Tribune, I read them.
If not, I didn't read the posts.
But I look for more of a running game this week.
I also think the pass D is better this week than it was the first time around.
The Bears have also found a running game with Forte.
This game will not be a shootout like the first time.
The team that can control the clock will have the advantage.

Gussy up the numbers any way you want.

Gus Frerotte still gives the Bears a better chance of winning Sunday at the Metrodome than he does the Vikings.

It won't be running back Adrian Peterson's performance that will determine whether the Vikings win their huge game against Chicago tonight at the Metrodome. It will be quarterback Gus Frerotte's.

Re: Game of the Week: Bears at Vikings

Wow Newshound.......Thats a bunch of articles to get through.....Thanks........ ;D

    From the first one.....

As well as Orton has played in '08, Chicago's offense still isn't built to pull off multiple 70-yard drives in one game.
Ever seen two teams so closely matched......?
Our offense has struggled at times sustaining drives as well.

    :

After Gus Frerotte's four-interception day in the first go-round, coach Brad Childress needs to reign in his quarterback, settle his beef with Adrian Peterson,
    What beef?
More drivel my friends, more drivel.

This week, if Frerotte can get the ball to speedy receiver Bernard Berrian with room to maneuver in the flat, the Bears could be in for another long day of chasing.
Or exploit the open zones with B-wade. Gotta hit the WR's on target and in stride though (and not on the back shoulder pad) to make that happen.

    From Charley Walters article.....

McNabb probably would cost the Vikings a second-round draft pick in a trade, with a possible upgrade depending on how he performs.
As much as I hate to give up draft picks, I would give a second in a heartbeat.
Besides, who better to run the system and for the "future" QB (Yes I used TJ and future together
;D) to learn from than the guy the system was designed for.......

Of Bears quarterback Kyle Orton's 21 completions in the first game against the Vikings, nine went to tight ends Greg Olsen and Desmond Clark. Olsen's team-leading six catches went for 74 yards and a touchdown. There is no reason to think Orton won't be looking for his tight ends again tonight and thus picking on the Vikings linebackers.
    ......and safties.
Lets not forget, those two cats role with respect to helping out over the top.

If they get caught gambling toward the WR's/CB's side, we will get burned by the TE's my friends..... :'(

    From the Haugh article......

Nothing may work against Peterson, but the Bears having Mike Brown at strong safety this time around instead of at free safety could make a small measure of difference. Brown excels when he mimics a fourth linebacker, and the Bears would be foolish not to walk up their strong safety before four out of every five snaps.
I hope they do and try to cover our WR's with 3 guys.
That should put Shanc one on one with a LB (and no safety help over the top by the way) which could equate to a nice day for the TE everyone loves to hate.

    ;D

    From the Spellman article........

Minnesota coach Brad Childress continued the lovefest with some kind words for Bears rookie Matt Forte.
That cat worries me the most.

Orton isn't 100% and will be a sitting target for JA and K-will in the pocket unless the Bores take some pressure off.
Best way to do that is to get some prodution out of Forte with some screens (The Bores can run them by the way) draws and dumpoffs.

Lets hope our DL doesn't over pursue as we have seen them do in this year.

    From the AP article.....

Hicks did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday and participated only on a limited basis on Friday.
I don't like it when starters don't get reps during the week but this is my boy Hicks.....I am sure he will come through.
If he doesn't, I like what Cook brings to the table as well.

    ;D

    From the ten things article.....

    9. I know the Bears have begun collecting wide receivers in hope of finding something, anything resembling a spark that might get a playmaker on the field. The Bears now have four wide receivers on their eight-man practice squad after signing Travis Brown this week. They have five wide receivers on the 53-man roster, and the only reception longer than 30 yards by a wideout in the last four games was a 36-yarder by Rashied Davis in garbage time against the Packers. It's not too early to start wondering about the off-season free-agent market for wide receivers (see Dan Pompei's NFL column on the facing page for your wish list).
Wonder if Leslie will continue to put Griff on the best WR, regardless of what side he lines up on and presses the pooh out of him or goes back to the "Cushion" approach on both sides.

Re: Game of the Week: Bears at Vikings

I truly believe the Vikes will have no problem beating the Bears.

Here's how the drives in the game went:
MN: Picture perfect 10 play (3 pass) 67yard time 5:42 resulting in a TD
Chi: Bad KO Chi gets ball at 46, defense unprepared for Chicago's "no huddle" drive 4pass 1 run = TD
MN: 1 run - 2 shotgun pass for 0 yards,
Kluwes' muffed punt resulting in a easy Chicago TD
MN: Good 6 play (2 pass) 70 yard drive to TD
Chi: Another crappy KO, Chicago gets ball at their 48, 6 pass 1 run, Allen unnecessary roughness, couple no huddles, 26 yard FG.
MN: 2 passes, 5 straight runs, 2 for loss, 42 yard FG
Chi: Chicago finally starts at the 22, takes 8 plays to go 24 yards, Chicago punts
MN: 1st play of drive, Gus throws INT, Chicago gets ball at MN 26
Chi: Vikes shut down Chicago, FG is blocked
MN: 68 yard 7play drive, for a TD
Chi: ANOTHER crappy KO, Chicago gets ball at their 41, 2 quick passes, one 5 yard penalty on MN, Chi kicks 48yrd FG

    End of half MN 24
    Chi 27
At this point MN has worked hard for their points and Chicago has gotten great field position and benefited from 2 stupid MN TO's

Chi: 6 plays (3 pass), 4 of which were no huddles, 80 yard drive for TD.
Why haven't the Vikes D adjusted for the No huddles????
    24-34
MN: 4 play, 2 pass, 54 yard AD run, TD
    31-34
Chi: 4 pass plays (none were no huddles) and a Allen sack, PUNT
MN: Vikes start at their 6, because of holding penalty, 2 run, penalty, DEEP pass for a interception
Chi: 3 plays, 2 no huddles, sack, fumble MN recovers
    MN: 3 plays for 9 yards... 4th and 1 on Chi 36.
    PASS??? incomplete.
Chi: 4 play 2 pass, 51 yard pass play for TD
    31-41

    MN: 2 runs, then INT
Chi: starts on MN 6, on a 4th and 1, incomplete pass.... BUT a PI on Ciurciu (why is he out there?)
    1st and 1 Forte TD
    31-48
    MN: 12 play, Gus 6 of 8, 4 runs,
    ends in a FG
(obviously Chi is in prevent D)
    34-48
    Chi: 3 and out
MN: 13 plays, Gus 7 of 10 passing, TD
    41-48
    Chi: 6 plays... Punt
MN: 1 min left down by 7.... Gus is sacked then throws INT
    Chi: kneels

If you ask me the Vikes beat themselves badly....
giving up massive field positions, not handling the no huddles, ST's giving up a TD

The half time score should have been 24-13
Vikes could then play their game of ball control.

I expect the Vikes WON'T make the mistakes the made in Chicago and thus will dominate the game.
