Re: Game Play has Darrell Bevell Written All Over It

I think the gameplan was to make sure Favre didn't lose the game. 23 pass plays were called, and most of those were long handoffs. Favre completed just 1 pass beyond 10 yards.

This was the first game Favre didn't turn the ball over. This was the 6th game Favre didn't have TD.

Seems like a good gameplan, I just wish it were Tjack running it.

And before anyone gets too excited about Frazier as a head coach, let's remember Brad Childress's first game as a head coach, a 3 point win @ washington.

Just realized the title says Game PLAY. Not Game Plan. FML

Childress went 4-2 in his first 6 games. So Leslie has a lot work to do to win over a crowd that believes a coach who had all off season and training camp to prepare vs. a coach who had 3 practices should be judge equally. Lets not forget Chilly went 6-10 that year.

    Wow.....

Marrdro's posts on this topic have been incredibly muddled.

Somebody asked him what he was talking about and I can see why.

Can you attempt to explain yourself, my friend?

HEY actually posted an article a few days ago (that i can't find to save my life) that talked about this. If I can find it I'll put it here, but it was talking about how even though Brad "gave up" play calling duties, he still played a big role in it during the games.
It does not matter Zeus is just like Chilly in his personality. He does not understand that Bevell might have called the plays but Chilly has the VETO power. My guess is that Chilly used that a lot judging by the players and coaches responses.

So Zeus I did read it thank you very much so you can go back into your hole now.
So when asked about what to run on the play the Noodle ran for 10 yards, "Leslie said........"

How does that differ from the Chiller injecting his opinion into what is called?

It doesn't. The HC has the authority to veto any play called for cripes sake. He's the HC.
Not following your post. Please explain more. You lost me on the first sentence.
Don't feel too bad, he lost himself at "So when asked..."

    Caine
I didn't have the direct quote at the tip of my keyboard so I left it as an open ended sentence in that Leslie gave his input into the play and then asked, how is that any different than what any HC does during games?

To sit here and say that the play calling was better cause Bevs was in charge of it or to think that Leslie didn't have any say into what was called kindof flies in the face of what actually happened in that instance and what happens league wide.

If we really wanted to get into it, we saw the same kindof play calling issues without the Chiller as we did with...

    a. Dugan on 3rd and short after we just watched Toby get nice yards on consecutive plays. Why not give it to him again?

    b. Your moving the ball with dinks/dunks and you can clearly see the defense wearing down. Instead of continuing along that lines, you throw it deep back to back which results in 3 and out and lets thier defense get off the field.

    c. Clearly the yardage was easier to gain behind the right side of the line and when you need yards you either went directly behind the C or you went off LG/LT for a loss of yards with defenders stacked to that side. Why not go to the right side were you had a RDE alone with no LB help, especially when you had your TE on that side?

Hope that helps clarify my opening sentence.

You don't want to get into it, because that statement is patently false and everybody knows it.

LOL! That has to be the hollowest snicker I ever heard.

Marrdro, my friend, you're babbling incoherently and then snickering.

How has that been working for you?

How is it false. I gave clear examples. Give me others that negate those.

My guess, you can't. Probably why you failed to do your homework in the other thread.

It only rings hollow cause you haven't been on the site long enough to have the background.

It will get the desired result as soon as a few posters read it. :cheer:
