Re: Frustrated TE Wiggins sees his role diminished
Wiggins can catch the ball.
There is no denying that.
However, as a TE you are expected to do more than that.
As already mentioned he is horrible at getting YAC and he is really bad at blocking.
The truth is if he could actually block he would get more opportunities because instead we are forced to bring in Kleinsasser.

We can argue about Wiggy all day....we can argue about Marcus Robinson, Brad Johnson, and Daunte.
Our new coach is alienating all the players.
He sucks.

Re: Frustrated TE Wiggins sees his role diminished
It isn't that shocking that Wiggins is getting the ball less when we ran our old deep pass every other down offense he was the checkdown option now that use checkdowns more often Taylor and Moore are more likely to shake a tackle
Richardson when he was on the field was able to bowl over would be tacklers, and McMullen is taller, a much better blocker, and is just as able to catch anything that comes his way I like Wiggins but he is expendable now.Minnesota Vikings : Simply the best

Re: Frustrated TE Wiggins sees his role diminished
Wiggens always messed up the big plays.
He would make small little 5 yard catches and when we needed a huge catch....He would drop it or fumble out of bounds.
I don't know if he should go or stay but I will say this...He needs to lose that New England accent....

He is from Boston.

You may sound funny to others.

Re: Frustrated TE Wiggins sees his role diminished
I've rarely seen wiggy drop passes. He's pretty sure handed. That being said, he is an average blocker at best and is slow enough where most linebackers can cover him 1on1. But he talked to the press in a negative light..............................bye bye.
Wait, if there's cat food in this bag............................
I HAVE TO CHECK ON JOLLY!!!!

Re: Frustrated TE Wiggins sees his role diminished
Yes I do have an accent.
Its a Minnesotan one. I moved to the south almost a year ago and people point it out to me everyday.
Wiggens jokes about his accent all the time so its no big deal.
The truth is the offense isn't what it once was and changes need to happen.
If he doesn't like his new role, than good-bye.
Have Great Night

Re: Frustrated TE Wiggins sees his role diminished
Good points Ultra with the YAC for Wiggy.
I like Wiggy but the facts that were all mentioned here point to him being elsewhere next year.
He is not a big play maker although he has made a few critical 3rd down catches while with the Vikes.
I also think Kleinsassaer has played his last game as a Viking.
His play has diminished since his injuries a couple of years ago.
I like the emergence of Dugan however they need a big play TE.
It seems to be the key in all good offenses (ex:
Gates, Clark, and I will even include Crumpler).
I think Vernon Davis will be a playmaker as well.
YAC is a great asset to have in a TE.
It will help the running game and the rest of the passing game because defenses can't key on certain areas.

Re: Frustrated TE Wiggins sees his role diminished
Good point and I do agree with the YAC.
Yeah Kleinsasser might of been one of our biggest overrated players.
I thought he was going to be great.
2 years ago I thought we were set at TE for along time with Wiggens and Kleinsasser.
It doesn't seem like that anymore.

Then why is your screen name PhatmanPat94?Wiggins is my man, but he's not the type of TE needed in our offense right now. However, if we kept him I would love it.
