    ANNNNNNNNNT!! WRONG ANSWER!

Stats Inc. does a study of what it calls, "burned defenders." Stats counts the number of times cornerbacks are targeted and how many times they get burned. From last year's tapes, Stats determined that Gary Baxter of Baltimore, Anthony Henry of the Browns and Fred Smoot of the Redskins were among the 12 most burned defenders in pro football, having between 57 and 63 passes completed on them. Combined, the trio gave up nine touchdowns, according to Stats Inc.

Each moved on to a new team this offseason with a $5 million contract.

The only reason that those three were singled out was because they switched teams...NOT because they were the top three...you need to read articles way more closely before making ASSUmptions...because when YOU ASSUme something, you make an A$$ out of you...but NOT me!

    That's BULLSH*T!!!!

Springs was NOT the #1...Smoot was looked upon HERE IN REDSKINS COUNTRY as the heir apparent to Champ Bailey...Springs was brought in to be the #2!
Right, but on paper Springs was their #1.

Geez, another stupid "Gloom and doom" topic.

I'll take Smoot, and be damn glad we got him.

Not a big fan of Smoot yet.

But I will wait until he is given the chance to prove me wrong until I piss and moan about it.

Anyone notice that all three of those guys were on top ten pass defenses? Getting a reception doesn't mean anything by itself, it could be a busted play, perhaps a comeback, etc. This "stat" means nothing by itself.

Yeah Right. Smoot is what, 25 years old? he is one of the youngest talented corners in the league. Plus he will be playing across from Winfield and will have Sharper behind him. Also I can't think of any big pass rushers the Redskins had last year. You can't just rate a player on individual stats, also rate things like how many of those "Burned" plays was the Redskins line putting on pressure. We KNOW that Kevin Williams will be putting pressure on any QB.(also what if we end up drafting David Pollack. He is supposed to be a great pass rusher.) Come on, that article is just silly.

We have two very good corners and should be fine.Anyways, the best corner I know is a defensive lineman putting the quarterback on his ass !! :evil4:

    Re: Fred (toast) Smoot

Smoot isn't as good as Winfield, but he is a very good corner. I feel pretty confident going into the season with two corners that only gave up 4 combined touchdowns last season.

Anyway, B.Williams got burnt ALOT last year.

Their criteria for 'burnt' is 'the receiver caught a pass.' That's not getting burned. Who cares if a guy 'burns' you for five yeards all day long if you keep him out of the endzone?

    What a worthless stat.
