Re: Fred (toast) Smoot
I have said this many times already. Smoot is an agressive CB and not a guy afraid to take chances. Because of this he makes a ton of plays and gets respect for being a great cover CB. Also because of this, he does get beat from time to time, like all the good aggressive CB's in the league. He is confident and knows if he gets beat, he has the speed to close the gap and still make plays. Sometimes he can't close that gap after getting beat.
Some of the best CB's in the league are burnt a lot, because of their agressiveness. You can't ranked CB's on how often they are burnt. Then all the conservative CB's that sit off 10 yards and give up 5-8 yard completions all game long would be rated as the best CB's in the game.
Smoot is a VERY GOOD CB and is a huge upgrade to our D. Will he give up some big plays and TD's? Yes. But guess what? He won't give up near as many as past vikings CB's and he will also make many many more big plays for our D.

I think you should check it out again, cause it says those 3 players were among the top 12 burnt players in football. Nowhere did it say smoot was in the top 3.

AND THE REDSKINS STILL HAD THE NUMBER 1 DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE. SO AS YOU SEE MY FRIENDS, ALL THIS STUFF DOESN'T MEAN JACK. SMOOT IS A HUGE UPGRADE FOR US.Springs was the #1, and on paper Smoot was one of the three top most burnt in 2004/2005.

Re: Fred (toast) Smoot
I watched Smoot play last season and I remember saying I wish he was a Vike.. little did I know he would be one in a couple of weeks
I like the kid a lot, so what he's not the best.. he's a great upgrade that will help solidify our D.

Re: Fred (toast) Smoot
that could be a curl, a comeback, a slant, anything OTHER than a deep pass. when i hear burnt i think, a streaking wr with a cb 5 yards behind. just cause they allowed 63 passes to be completed on them last year doesn't mean sh!t in my eyes. add in that the 3 of them only allowed 9 tds between them thats 3 a season. winfield gave up 1, so if smoot gives up 3 again this year that means only 4 tds giving up by our cbs. thats promising.Stats determined that Gary Baxter of Baltimore, Anthony Henry of the Browns and Fred Smoot of the Redskins were among the 12 most burned defenders in pro football, having between 57 and 63 passes completed on them. Combined, the trio gave up nine touchdowns, according to Stats Inc.[b:4b97d41fa6]Hey Green Bay...[/b:4b97d41fa6]

Re: Fred (toast) Smoot
Smoot will get thrown at more, because Winfield gave up the league low for a #1 corner in touchdowns.
So he'll get a chance to prove himself.

Springs was NOT the #1...Smoot was looked upon HERE IN REDSKINS COUNTRY as the heir apparent to Champ Bailey...Springs was brought in to be the #2!BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE
