Winfield will likely need to take a cut to stay.
we can hardly afford to be giving ultimatums to defensive backs at this point.
Unless he's moved to nickel his cap hit is over 6 million.
and if we get rid of him, then what?

we have a broken Griffin, Cook, Asher......

and free agent named___________. With a lot of money and cap space freed up.
but really, how much money do you think we'll have?
we're 4 mil over the cap. Kennedy accounts for 2.5, M-Will will be 3.5 if we cut him, that gives us now 2 mil to work with. Winfield frees up 6 more. However, we need WR, we need S, we need DL and OL. It just doesn't make sense to cut Winfield, when he's been one of our most consistent contributors on D. If he were playing poorly, then yes, it makes more sense, but that's not the case.
Can't realisticly disagree with you, because we are so thin at the position.
Still, I feel they may ask to restructure his contract to gain cap flexibility.

no doubt they ask, but if he is unwilling, cutting him would be a poor move imo.

Resigning AD and Greenway is pretty crucial for us at this point imo. If we can lock both of those guys down to long term deals we keep two of our best players and free up a metric shit tonne of cap space.

I'm not worried though, we're the Vikings, we will wind up with cap space. Brzezinski is maybe the best in the NFL at what he does. I can't see us not partaking in probably the biggest and best FA pool football has ever seen...
