The "starter" designation doesn't really mean a lot when it comes to WRs. He is still going to see plenty of field time.Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

This is one thing I've noticed Frazier has brought over from the Childress regime... they pigeon-hole players into roles rather than developing schemes around the players' strength.
Similar thing happened when we drafted Sidney Rice. Childress refused to use him as a starter, if at all. It was only when Brett Favre came here and told Childress to utilize Rice more. (this conversation was recorded during a "Mic'ed Up" segment, so there's no denying this conversation took place) Who did they use instead of Rice? Bernard Berrian and Bobby Wade.
Despite players performing at higher levels than their competition, our coaches seem to think, "No, our starter is the guy we're paying more..." completely ignoring any production on the field.
You see coaches like Bill Belichick - who will have two undrafted FAs start at WR and TE this year. You will never, EVER see Frazier do anything like that. Our coaching staff lacks any creativity or broad vision of what this team could be.
The Childress regime lives on.Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

Well said C Mac.
I agree that I feel more and more like this is just the second half of the Childress regime. I like that Frazier cares about the defense (something Childress clearly did not give a fuck about) ... but all in all ... I HATE HATE HATE seeing a coach say, "These are our starters no matter what" when there is plenty of preseason left.
I heard Darrell Green on the radio here recently and I loved what he said. His favorite day of camp was when he "made the team" ... EVERY YEAR ... he said you never know when you aren't going to make the team. An All-Pro Hall of Fame CB thought he had to work his ass off every single camp to make the team.
Meanwhile ... Jerome Simpson knows he gets to start no matter what.

Yeah, what has Jerome Simpson done to warrant a roster spot... let alone BE A STARTER?!?!
It's absolutely insane.
And much like the Childress regime, we don't have a legit QB and will probably continue to be 1-and-done in the playoffs... if we make it that far.Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

For reference, Simpson's 2012 stats are below... he was the only WR on our roster to lose a fumble last season. In fact, he was the only WR that fumbled at all, and he did it twice.
Sure glad this guy is our starter. (facepalm)
Catch %: 50% (second lowest on team after Stephen Burton... who caught 5 out of 11 targets)
Fum lost: 1Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

It's Preseason Game #2 for the love of God... Is this seriously a point to complain about at this time?
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent
