I was thinking that if the Noodle retires next year, and Childress doesn't win us a Super Bowl this year, I'd really love it if Favre came back and was the Offensive Coordinator and Frazier becomes the Head Coach... Favre is obviously a lot better at play calling than Childress, so why not?
Childress doesn't call plays... why or how is it relevent if Favre is a better play caller? And how exactly was it determined that he's "obviously" a better play caller?
More times than not, the calls going in (from Bevell btw) are being run. Being that the Vikings had a lot of success on Offense last year... it's a fair assumption he's doing an alright job at calling plays.
As for Frazier, what exactly has he done short of being interviewed by other teams to deserve a promotion to HC? Do you feel the D is better now than what we had under Tomlin? I haven't seen any significant improvement in our D to believe he's going to be a great Head Coach in the league.

I lead off by saying this is opinion only, but I think this would be a very bad idea on both counts.
First, Frazier. He has only very limited experience even as a coordinator. By what measure is he qualified to be a Head Coach? Also, he has no offensive experience whatsoever. I grant that this has not stopped coordinators from becoming HCs before, and it won't stop them from doing so in the future, but seriously, give the guy a few more years in a supporting role first.
Second, Favre as OC? No, no, a thousand times no. Not even as a QB coach. As great as he is, he's too reckless at times and would probably instill this quality into his proteges. Also, while he is physically very talented, he has never struck me as being the brightest QB bulb in the chandelier. Not stupid by any means, but IMO not up to the level required of a coordinator.
No. I think he's headed for a quiet retirement. Someone might want to take a flyer on him as an analyst, since he is charismatic and engaging, but I don't think he'd really want to go that route. I think he goes home to MS and enjoys his millions in peace and quiet.

Leslie Frazier as defensive coordinator - 2007, 08, 09
1st vs. the Run, 32nd vs. the Pass, 12th in Pts. All., 20th overall
1st vs. the Run, 18th vs. the Pass, 13th in Pts. All., 6th overall
2nd vs. the Run, 19th vs. the Pass, 10th in Pts. All., 6th overall
Pretty much looks like improvement to me. Struggled the first year while adjusting his system. Then actually became average against the pass while finishing in the top 6 in the league defensively. Has pretty much done better than Tomlin every year, and had done better every year in the points allowed category.
Defense is DEFINITELY better than we had under Tomlin.

But yeah ... I don't think you go from QB one year to OC in the NFL the next season. There is a lot more to the Xs and Os than being able to pick up a blitz and hit the hot receiver.

Favre may have lacked accuracy, and he may have been rusty with his WR timing, but he was throwing LASERS.
