A big monkey wrench into this whole QB issue will be if a new CBA isn't done.
In an uncapped year the following affect free agency:

    1) free agency will require six years of service
    2) teams will have three tags to use to restrict free agents instead of one tag
    3) teams that go deep in the playoffs could have some spending restrictions

TJ falls into the less than 6 year FA restriction, thus he won't be a FA.
So he's not going anywhere if a new CBA isn't agreed to by 2010 season starts.
Which IMO given the current issues most likely won't happen.

As for who the Vikes new QB could be, it's anyones guess.
    TJ would be a RFA
Should be interesting what the market will offer TJ.

I bet we could give him a medium tender and it won't get matched.

    +1
He is also the future because he is never retiring.

Chilly will attempt to get the org. to bid against itself if it means keeping son in T-Jack.

    Re: Franchise QB

A year or two in the NFL is a long time.
    So who really knows?

I'd like to see them draft a good QB in round 1, which is where most of the true franchise guys come from.
The success rate of those QBs has been through the roof lately, which is either an anomaly or a sign of the progress being made in the college game.

If the Silver Fox retires at the end of the year, someone mentioned Donovan McNabb and I think that's a trade possibility.
He could probably give the Vikes 3 or 4 years, which is an eternity in this league.
He may or may not actually be available, depending on how the Eagles feel about Kolb and the cash they'll owe McNabb next spring.
    I'd like to see it.

I'd be something like satisfied but not happy if we go with Tarvaris in the future.

    I agree.
Even the lowest tender would require a second round pick as compensation.
What team would trade a second round pick for Tarvaris Jackson?
When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]

Only way Tjoke is re-signed is if Childress is given another contract. I still dont even want to see Tjoke on the field again. What we need to draft is a QB like Farve, Good in the WCO. Doesnt have to be a great athlete like Tjoke was supposed to be. Strong arm, smart, can make quick read, strong arm but doesnt have to have the deep arm. I hope someone like that is avaliable as FA next year unless Farve plays again. If not we need to make some trades to move up in the draft. Anyone but Tebow.

They showed a couple of clips with Matt Ryan on the sideline talking with his O line and WRs.
He was basically coaching them up.
He told Gonzo the next time they saw this coverage he was hitting him.
    They did just that.

The guy has command of the offense and more importantly the ability to see flaws in the opposing teams defense, all this in his second year in the NFL.

    Edit:

I remember when the draft was going on that year Matt was drafted, they were talking about how he could diagnose plays.
They were saying how teams would bring in the potential QBs and have them watch a film clip and diagnose plays like they would in meetings.

I also remember them saying how Leinert did well at this also.

I suppose the other part of this is work ethic.

Well the market offered him Nothing when he was shopped after Brett signed...he should be able to be signed next year for next to nothing...probably just match what is offered by other teams which most likely will be none....dont see anyone knocking down the door for him, he will be a cheap acquisition....doesnt seem as Chilly is too concerned anymore...Maybe he has seen the light, the only way to succeed is to have a real QB instead of a project

we have no idea what the market offered him, we don't even know for a fact that the Vikes were shopping him.
