Martz and Smith made a very good coordinator combination in St. Louis. They know each other well. This move could be good for both of them, or it could take them both down.Prophet wrote:
I'm not so sure why he took this job. Surely it wasn't because of all the talent he has on Offense to work with.Marrdro wrote:

He sure isn't HC'ing material and I'm sure the NFLN guys were puffing him up (Fluff Puff - Like how I used that?) bit, but they said that teams average 5 pts more a game with him as thier O-cord.That is usually one of my favorite sites, but this article was fluff. They really tried to stretch it out giving Martz some sort of kudos regarding his stay in Detroit. As a Vikings fan I am very happy that Martz will be leading the Bears' offense. Martz has been exposed as the fraud that he is and he is FAR from an offensive genius. Riding off the coat-tails of others is eventually exposed and Martz will be putting the nails in his coaching coffin during his tenure with the Bears.
5 pts is a significant increase.
No OL, Knox is interesting but very little else in the way of recievers. QB is a nice prospect, but no running game to setup the play action.
Again, not sure why he took the job.
I do not know what all of this Martz bashing is all about. He has done well when given players with talent. He did respectable with less than respectable talent.
Martz has a big ego, but show me a head coach that is worth a damn that does not.
In any case, Martz knows how to attack the Tampa 2 Zone, and that is not good for the Vikings. Let us hope the Vikings defensive staff has learned some things about Martz as well.

Three coaches who shouldn't be head coaches; Martz, Tice, and Lovie. What the hell kind of name is Lovie anyway?
This is football. Change it to Crocadile Smith or Ironhead or something.
I'm with Prophet on this one. His offense, with that O-line and those receivers... He'll be out of town as fast as he got here. He's the Sexy Rexy of OCs. "Fuck it, I'm going deep". Look at that sack amount going even further up and Cutler forcing even more deep balls this year.
Only thing I don't agree on are the Lions... Yeah, maybe they won't be amazing this year, but Schwartz knows what he's doing and he has some young talent on that team. If they give him some time, he'll rework that defense and they might become a play-off team again.
Just think about this. They take Suh and whatever DE has just slipped into the 2nd round. That's one hell of a foundation to build on. Get another corner at the start of the 3rd in this very deep draft, and you have something in place, already."You can look pretty smart if you have a knack for planning ahead. That's Ted. The Packers are in good hands." - Ron Wolf

I actually thought the Lions were gonna finish ahead of the Bores last year. Not sure if I want to go out and get bit by that one again, however, I do agree, they should be a much improved team this year.jargomcfargo wrote:

I don't know either. Reminds me of that Jack Handy spiel, “To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.”
I think along the same lines when I think of the self-professed genius, Martz. He has the 'greatest show on turf' and there were many accusations that he was riding on the coattails of others and his personal coaching skills were suspect. For example, he did prove his naysayers wrong in Detroit and San Francisco, oh wait, he didn't. I guess there was a reason that J.T O'Sullivan didn't start in New Orleans, Minnesota, Green Bay, New England, Detroit, or the Bengals. Call me crazy, I think Mike Martz is a tard and I think he will prove it once again in the Windy City.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. Mark Twain
