Former Viking CB charged with Drug Trafficking

WALHALLA, S.C. -- Former NFL cornerback Derek Ross was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana after a traffic stop Friday.

The 25-year-old Ross, who was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2002, was in a car with another man when police stopped the rented Chevrolet Impala on Interstate 85 near the South Carolina-Georgia border, according to Capt. Donnie Fricks of the Oconee County Sheriff's Office.

Officers smelled and saw marijuana on the console, and a search found 25 pounds of marijuana, police said.

Ross, of Rock Hill, also played for Atlanta and Minnesota. He was selected in the third round by the Cowboys out of Ohio State. The Cowboys released him late in the 2003 season.

Dalmicos Hemphill, 24, also of Rock Hill, has been charged with trafficking marijuana.

Sounds to me like he was just fine until he went to Dallas and got corrupted.

hope dustin fox doesnt wind up like him. 3rd round ohio defensive back. luckily the vikes got to him first so his mind wouldnt be so corrupted.

Was it dallas or minny where he learned his craft Caine??? Seems like more and more current and former Vikes have their hands all over the stuff.

geese ross sure had a short career, what an idiot, im not that knowledged on drugs but i believe 25 pounds is a crap load, but man lately everyone in the nfl is either getting busted for pot or admitting to have used it, preety soon we'll hear brett favre used pot before, wait....the media wouldn't do that to brett, they would just forget about it
