Fitz "won't lose any sleep" by not being a Viking

Asked if he ever thinks about playing for the Vikings, Fitzgerald said: “Honestly, I like coming home and just it being home. I go out with Adrian [Peterson] or Sidney [Rice] or Jared [Allen], guys like that, and they get mobed everywhere they go. I see how Joe [Mauer] gets mobbed everywhere. I’m good at just coming home and being able just to blend in and just being a regular guy. I kind of like that. So if it happened, it would obviously be a childhood dream come true, but if it doesn’t then I won’t lose any sleep over it.”

I can't believe that he wouldn't get mobbed here, he's a hometown boy and he's an NFL star. I'd definitely recognize him walking down the street. I'd love to see him in a purple jersey.

I could see it. I mean, a casual NFL fan might not recognize him. Obviously if he goes out there's going to be people who recognize him, but it's not like some big Vikings names like Allen or AP. Most people woudl recognize Allen instantly, probably the same for AP, simply because they're always on TV here, they ahve advertisements, etc.

But, in the end, I don't give a crap if he needs police escorts everywhere he goes, I woudl love Fitz here. Trade Rice for Fitz, straight up.

yep, if we're going to pay bundles of money then lets do so for someone who's proved to be more than a one season wonder :P

Thats a good point. I'd recognize him, but I suppose I'm more than a casual fan.

I like the idea of Harvin, Rice and Fitz as our receiver set, but I'd definitely take Fitz over Rice.

Fitz cant walk around anywhere here in AZ anymore either. His first couple of years he was always at every UofM or Minnesota sporting event that was here.
Now he is ushered everywhere he goes as he is mobbed by the crowd. I would love to see him go back home and tear it up for the Vikes, its just not that likely.

One of the players' biggest problems in bargaining is how difficult it is to get away from a team you don't want to be on anymore.
For this reason, Fitz will likely remain with the Cards until he is half the player he is now. With transition tags, franchise tags, restricted FA tags. All players can do is hold out (like Vincent Jackson) but then they lose money, don't get service time ... and end up right back where they started.
I would love to see Fitz in Minnesota, just like any other team would like to see Fitz there, but it just does not seem that realistic right now.
