I am sure we can get at least 3 more pages out of this.

    OK Quick question

What is the percentage of starting QB's who spent their first year on the practice squad Vs. on the teams roster.
Thats not a quick question my friend.
That will take me almost a day to research that one unless I can find an article that someone has already done.

Of course that would mean some sports hack would've had to have a original thought and done the research instead of just regurging the same thing all the other sports hacks are spewing.

    ;D

Let me do some research today.
I'm not fishing so I could see what I can find before the game comes on.
    I'll be shooting trap.

I just got a new electric trap thrower in the mail yesterday along with 500 16g hulls, wads etc and just for kicks a set of dies for my .243 wssm and a box of Barnes 62 grain Varmint Grenade bullets.

And the weather looks good. ;D
    We have one of these.
Set it up in the back of the pickup and bang away till our shoulders get tired.

    ;D

Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

I'm pretty much in complete agreement with your list, Marr. If we see any surprise I think it might be that Fergie stays on in place of Wyms and we roll with 6 WR's. I get that Wyms can play two positions, but will we ever need him to with 4 DE's and 4 DT's? Unfortunately, if this happens either Douzable or Jaymar Johnson is off the PS, probably the latter, which would be a shame.

It's interesting that I've come around to this point given that only a week ago I was sure there would not be 6 WR's. But now that I look over the list, I think that they'll take quality (Fergie) over potential need (Wyms).
I toyed with the idea of putting 6 WR's on the roster but for the life of me just couldn't get over a few things as I thought it over...

    a.
The staff has never done it to date. That doesn't mean they won't but I believe history is a good thing to look at when you want to get a feeling for what someone might or might not do.

    b.
We seem to be set with 5 WR's.
No need to carry the 6th one other than to add a bit of depth at ST's.

    c.
We aren't set on the DL.
Infact we are in a state of flux because of injuries.

    d.
The scheme we run (Defensively) is so upbeat that it causes our DL to wear down quickly.
If they don't continually rotate guys in and out then you will see breakdowns as we did last year when we suffered some dings/suspensions.

Again, I hear ya on the 6th WR but just can't see it happening.
    a. Yup, this is probably the best reasoning of why we may see
    five WR's.

    b. Depth at special teams, but also run blocking and some savvy vet experience and leadership to what is otherwise a pretty young unit. These are key assets that Fergie brings to the team. While you could argue that Wyms also brings some veteran leadership, the D-line is already pretty stacked in this area.

You're right, though; we are basically set with 5 WR's. Still, we have yet to actually see Nance perform in an actual NFL game that matters. Fergie is a known quantity, just in case Nance were to turn into a dud post-preseason (how's that for a double prefix?
    ;D).

    c. I think we are set on the Defensive line, actually. Basically, with four DE's and four DT's, I wouldn't see Wyms getting much if any playing time. While there have been a number of injuries, I like what I see going into the season. And if there are any further injuries to this unit (knocking on wood) in the regular season, then that is when you call up Douizable from the PS to take a roster spot. I just don't see Wyms being needed or adding much to the team unless someone else goes down.

    d. This is a very valid point, though I sincerely hope we don't see anymore suspensions. It will certainly be a factor in the coaches' final decision, I don't doubt.

Despite all of the above, though, I think that ultimately, as you're trying to skim those last few guys off you want to look not just at positional needs but also what they bring to the team as a whole, and which are the better players at their positions. When you look at those latter two factors you see that Ferguson brings more to the team in terms of special teams and veteran leadership, for one. But also when you put Fergie against Wyms, I think Fergie is a better WR than Wyms is a DE or DT.

That's why I say Ferguson wins the spot.

Ferguson's veteran presence and willingness to play on special teams makes him a lock.
+1, that is what I have been saying all along.

Got a few wrong but not much. Brian Daniels but I am not sure how good he really was anyways. I really didn't think Tahi would be on the team and I am still confused on why he is. I am really confused on why Herron made the team instead of Rufus. I thought Rufus played well. Did not see much of anything from Herron. Husain Abdullah would not have been there if Boulware did not get injured. Not sure when that happened.
IMO Sumrall should have made the practice squad instead of Walker. Walker was terrible. Meh, Mozes gets bumped due to Daniels not making the 53. Chase Johnson not even making the practice squad?! He must have been worse than I thought. Reynaud did not impress me.

How was walker terrible? Chase Johnson was terrible this training camp/pre-season. He was demoted to third team within about a week of camp and drew radovich took over.

get rid of Bobby Wade and put Nance on there, then I'd be really happy.
