For one we always keep 4 and Hicks was on the roster last year plus I might be wrong but isn't there a league minimum of 4?
    LOL!!!

No, dude, the Vikings could have a 53-man roster comprised entirely of long-snappers and the NFL wouldn't give a shit - as long as those 53 long-snappers are paid up to the minimum level of the cap that the Vikings must spend.
    Thats why I asked asshole.
    Damn, that's harsh.

    Re: Final Roster Predictions

Pending something really changing due to an injury, here is what I think we will go into week one with.

Couple of factors that went into my analysis.

    a.
I actually used the numbers for each position that this staff has used historically, not what I want or think they will do.
If they did what I wanted they would carry a few more at different positions and carry a few less at others.

Based on our scheme we wear FB/Hback TE's, S's, DT's, and DT's out.
No way they short those roster spots to carry a extra WR that will fill a ST's/Return function only.

    b.
    QB's. I really worry about TJ's health.
My guess is the staff does as well and won't feel comfortable with Gus being backed up by JDB no matter how much potential we as fans believe he might have.
    c.
    LB's.
I actually looked at thier stats.
Popes just didn't stand out that much.

    d.
Practice squad players are plugged in not only by potential/long term future with the team but as a insurance policy for a few spots we might continue to have injury issues with this year.

With that said, I am sure the venting will begin starting out with our number 3 QB.

    ;D

    QB 3

    Tarvaris Jackson
    Gus Frerotte
    Brooks Bollinger

    RB 3
    Adrian Peterson
    Chester Taylor
    Maurice Hicks

    FB 2
    Thomas Tapeh
    Nafahu Tahi

    TE 4
    Visanthe Shiancoe
    Jim Kleinsasser
    Garrett Mills
    Jeff Dugan (Doubles as FB)

    WR 5
    Bernard Berrian
    Sidney Rice
    Bobby Wade
    Aundrae Allison
    Martin Nance

    OL 8
    Bryant McKinnie (LT)
    Steve Hutchinson (LG)
    Matt Birk (C)
    Anthony Herrera (RG)
    Ryan Cook (RT)
    Marcus Johnson (RT)
    Drew Radovich (LT)
    Artis Hicks (T/G/C)

    Defense:

    DE 5
    Jared Allen
    Ray Edwards
    Brian Robison
    Otis Grigsby
    Ellis Wyms (DE/DT)

    DT 4
    Kevin Williams
    Pat Williams
    Fred Evans
    Letroy Guion

    LB 6
    Chad Greenway
    E.J. Henderson
    Ben Leber
    Rufus Alexander
    Erin Henderson
    Vinny Ciurciu

    CB 5
    Antoine Winfield
    Cedric Griffin
    Charles Gordon
    Benny Sapp
    Marcus McCauley

    S 5
    Darren Sharper
    Madieu Williams
    Tyrell Johnson
    Eric Frampton
    Michael Boulware

    Special Teams:
    K 1
    Ryan Longwell

    P 1
    Chris Kluwe

    LS 1
    Cullen Loeffler

    Practice Squad:

John David Booty (QB)- Allocated to the Practice squad.
Risk of injury to TJ necessitates having the more experienced guy behind Gus drives staff to take the risk of losing him.
His play during the pre-season ultimately will not be good enough to warrant any other team wasting a 53 man roster spot on him like we saw with Thygpen last year.

Albert Young (RB) – Even though he had a rocky start, he has shown he can be a work horse carrying the ball and did a good job picking up blitzers.

    Jaymar Johnson (WR) -
Just didn’t show enough to warrant an spot on the 53 man roster just for return specialist.
Could be activated if one of the WR’s go down.

John Sullivan (C/G) - Placed on the practice squad.
Can be activated if Birk goes down.

Chase Johnson (OT) - Radovich ultimately has shown more potential and heart than Chase.
If Radovich isn’t healthy swap Rad to the PS and CJ to the active roster.

Leger Douzable (DT/DE) – Showed some promise and because of injury issues gets a spot on the practice squad.

Brandon Sumrall (CB) – Showed enough in the Ravens game to warrant a spot here.

Steve Hauschka (K) – Young man with potential.
Will provide a decent leg behind Longwell if he goes down this year.

I know, I almost quit typing it when I got to that point.

Honestly, I want to see him and Hicks gone more than anyone, but when I sit back and look at if from a perspective other than a fan, I just don't see this staff putting any trust in him this year especially when you look at TJ and his injuries.

I didn't disagree with too many. But if bollinger is non the roster to start the season it could only be because he is Childress's Lewinski without the blue dress. I also think they will keep a few of the young OL on the active roster and develop them rather than risk losing them to another team. Guys like Hicks are floating around if you need them.

Why not just resign Brooks if TJ goes down. Do you really think some one else is going to pick Brooks up?

Even if he does get picked up we can always go out and sign Testaverde like every other team in trouble does. He is only like 47 years old.

I hope your right about Hicks.
That cat just has no upside.

Also, I just don't see keeping JDB. I just don't see him ready enough to be relied on and I don't see anyone taking him from us as he tries to clear waivers.

On the flip side, I guess if we are down to our number 3 QB (we made it there last year) I guess the jig is up anyway.
