Better yet imagine if we did kick it and we missed it went into overtime and lost. Or we fumbled the snap and they ran it back.

A large reason why this call sits so well with everyone is because it worked. Had he run the time down inside the redzone after two very great drives where we were taking what we wanted in the run game, and still managed to lose the game............

it would be ugly and you would be hearing about it.
Anything can happen on a kick, but why attempt to go for a td when all you need is 3? And when you can also leave no time for the other team to do anything. Even if the kick had failed, that still would be the right call IMO.
Absolutely ... I remember the damn Lions game last year when Moe broke like five tackles inside the 7 to get into the endzone when he had a first down! I was so ticked because it left Detroit like 1:28 or something and they marched right down and scored the apparent tie TD (they botched the PAT).
Even if the kick failed, people know that it is the right call. Going for the TD presents no benefit what-so-ever. You either don't get in and end up kicking anyways, you turn it over, or you score with time still left on the clock ... NO BENEFIT AT ALL.

if I remember right there was between a minute and minute in a half left when we had the ball down there. lets just say we go for the throat and get the TD on the next play. That leaves farve PLENTY of time to march it down the field on us. Trust me when I first saw him to go back and take a knee I was going crazy. As I sat and watch in disbelief I soon realized that was absolutely perfect play calling. Sure in the excitment of the game and drive everyone prolly would have gone for the score there. I give Tice a ton of credit for remaining level headed and making the right call

I was not going crazy ... if we did anything other than line it up right down the middle and suck up their timeouts I would have went nuts. There is not a coach in the league ... NOT ONE ... that would have done that differently.

for those wanting the touch down let me ask u this :

5 seconds left down by 6 and we score the touch down , do u kick the extra point for the win or do u try for the 2 point conversion for the win?

U KICK IT!!!! running the clock to 3 seconds and kick the 27 yard field goal for the win as time expires , this keeps farve on the bench (poutin) and off the field where he's most dangerous.

" but what if they blocked the kick or missed the field goal?"

or " what if there was a fumble or an interception and the pack runs it back?"

or my favorite" what if we score the touchdown on the first play and farve gets the ball back with 1 minute left on the clock"

well what if the was an earth quake and a hurricane at the same time?
