Trapping the ball against your chest is rarely the proper technique to use. If you are talking about guiding the ball into your body with your hands, then that works, but letting the ball hit your body first leads to a lot of drops. Basically, you want the first thing that the ball touches to be your hands, always. While I agree that NFL Wide receivers should be able to catch the ball with their hands, if you can catch it with BOTH your hands and your body, you have a much better chance of a reception."I hate when threads are destroyed by facts and logic."

The optimum words here being "the ball touches to be your hands". Many people here have been considering balls that are out of reach & never even touched by a receiver as dropped balls."COJOMAY" wrote:

Re: Ferguson bides his time
I think TWill has looked much improved this year as well.
QB accuracy has been a much bigger factor than drops this year.
As long as he hangs on to the ball, I'm happy
Sure, not all of his catches have been pretty, but he has made some tough ones too.
I think it was the first preseason game, he had this great spinning, leaping, two-handed catch in the middle of the field that was a bit high and behind him and with enough velocity to send him flying backwards...anyone else catch that?
IMPRESSIVE!
Ferguson?
I hope he steps it up on his next opportunities, cuz right now, Rice, Wade, TWill, Shank are all out playing him.
I know he was a pretty good WR for awhile...perhaps there's been a lack of concentration and he'll snap out of it.Control the line, control the time, and give your D a chance to shine!!

Ferguson seeks more active role in Vikings offense
The receiver says he feels he has a lot to offer and says now is the time to suggest ways he can contribute.
