Favre says he's not coming back in 2011
Finally some good news from Brett Favre as Vikings quarterback says he's not coming back in 2011
Brett Favre told Steve Mariucci on the NFL Network that he's not coming back in 2011.
Really. He means it this time. He promises. Crosses his heart and hopes to die.

Brett Favre won't return for 2011
"I can promise you this: Not that I have ever set out as a goal to play 20 years, it's 20 years and I'm done. This is the last year of my contract," he said when the season began.

Good plan.

Re: Favre says he's not coming back in 2011
He said that when he came back this year, that win or lose, this was his last year ever.
And, he's only under contract this year, and I don't think anybody would sign him again.

Not going to deny that, but he's just too old. Next year, if he were to be a free agent, I could see maybe somebody looking at him as a backup, but he's getitng hurt on an almost weekly basis. Next year his body will just be a year older. Not to mention a huge contract he'll want, I just don't see it.i_bleed_purple wrote:

Well it wouldn't be surprising if he came back in 2011. But it would be surprising if he really kept his word and retired for good!

He is done. That OL is getting him beat to a pulp.

He doesn't want #299 or anything less, which in part is one reason I believe he's played injured, rather than sit one out to heal.
20 years & 300consecutive starts is still impressive milestones to retire on, even if your team doesn't make it to the Super Bowl in that same year.
