Wake up BadlandsVikings. Are you completely insensitive, or just cursed with a horrendous sense of humor? Then you try to flippantly excuse your incredibly bad taste in making a Hitler/Jews reference by making a "mentally challenged" remark? Are you intentionally being tactless, or is this a natural state of ignorance you're dwelling in? While I realize that the boundaries of decency are somewhat relaxed here, they aren't gone entirely. Elevate your game.BadlandsVikings wrote:
There is nothing wrong for cheering for Tjack...That's exactly what I'd be doing if Favre wasn't an option.BloodyHorns82 wrote:
i see nothing wrong with cheering for the mentally challenged everyone needs a chance. If I offendfed asnyone with my previous statement I'm sorry but why do I have to jump on the bandwagon and accept him?Caine wrote:
It would be similar if only Favre had murdered millions of Vikings fans. Except he didn't... Instead he gifted us one of the best, most memorable seasons in Vikings franchise history. The guy is a fun QB to watch, even at 50...err, I mean 41. (he just looks 50).BadlandsVikings wrote:

I expect better from you...not this kind of crap.

I don't want to come off as insulting, but the people continuing to resist Favre are looking more and more pathetic. There is just no straw to hold onto anymore.
Cheering for Jackson is like cheering for the mentally challenged kid to lead the varsity team to victory. He may make some strides, but it aint gonna happen.
The statement isn't that you should accept him...it's more so the question why in the hell wouldn't you except him. He's a damn good QB helping our team win and providing exception entertainment in the process.
"because he played for the Packers" just seems like the lamest of reasons to not support your teams starting player..but then again that's just my opinion.
As for the entire "He was a Packer" BS...I posted this 4 pages back - in response to Skum's original statement about Favre ruining his ability to watch the Vikings...it applies even moreso here:
Caine wrote:
Think about it...skum wrote:
So when Jerry Rice went and played for the Oakland Raiders, those fans should have hated him...after all, he was a 49'er for 15 years - whoopin their asses season after season - before he came to Oakland. And Seahawks fans...they should have been spitting on him as he came out of the tunnel, and burning his jersey in effigy, right? It seems everyone in here is celebrating that this packer legend is coming to play for the Vikings one more season - and im the Packer fan?
Wake up guys, winning isnt everything.. Some people have principles.
How about Emmit Smith? 13 years as a Cowboy...those Cardinals fans must have been ashamed to even watch their team the two years he was there...
How about John Randle? 11 seasons as a Viking... those Seahawks fans must have been MORTIFIED!!!
And how about former Viking players we should have hated on...Warren Moon - how could we tolerate an ex-Oiler!!! Randall Cunningham - a former Eagle. Archie Manning - a former Saint. And, worst of all, Jim McMahon...a fomer BEAR!!!!
And I could go on and on and on and....you get the idea.
The point here is that players switch teams all the time. For example, I "hate" Aaron Rodgers. I want him to fail miserably. I want him to throw 5 interceptions in each of his first 3 games this season, and get benched....
...but if WE picked him up, I'd want an MVP season out of him, and a HOF career.
Your problem - and the problem of a handful of others - is that you continue to see Brett as a Packer. He isn't. He's a Viking. He WAS a Packer - and I bashed the crap out of him when he was. But now he's one of OUR guys....and I wish him nothing but success.
If you really want to stick to your "principles" (Which they aren't, but feel free to keep on deluding yourself), I'll make you a list of players you can cheer for...players who have only ever been Vikings. Of course, that leaves off Jared Allen, Pat Williams, Antoine Winfield, Ben Leber, Ryan Longwell, and a handful of other key players....but you have your PRINCIPLES to consider, right?

Don't care how you got here or what you did before, but care that the fact you are here and will do whatever it takes to help us win. He is with us now.
We're bringing purple back.

or he met with Andrews on Monday, which actually happened, got the green light, and wanted to fuck with the media more like what has been going on this whole time. Did you actually listen to the words that have come out of Chillys, Longwell, and Allens mouths this whole time? Comical IMO. Favre is a grown man. He does not seem like the type to be swayed.marstc09 wrote:
Child please! You must have missed several posts I've made stating I'd welcome him back, but I know you didn't.Marrdro and Singer reported missing.
Glad he's back, but not so glad the Vikings had to go there and coerce him back. That tells me a couple of things;
1. He was given the green light to play by Andrews last week, but was still waffling.
2. Favre did not decide to play or come up to MN on his own accord. Zygi had 3 teamm mates/friends fly down there to entice him back/sway his decision. IMO, that means he's not totally 100% enthusiastic about playing & it may show on the field.
I'm sure the Favreaholics will twist this into something it's not.

You guys good? Got your boy back? Stopped your internal whining bullcrap?
Mars has his proper woody, etc.?
Prepare for the ass-beating.
Not any prognosticators, not the "Pack is going to the SB" not the "Vikes are going to the SB"
It is on pride now. You boys are all going down, what with your sucking up to the geezer and all...plus the rest of your riff-raff following suit right behind him 'tude-wise.
I have actually gained a little more respect for your geezin'bald-head coach over the years, he no longer sounds completely retarded to me...
No excuses. It's you or us, imo.
My Fred Flintstone will beat your Brett Favre brown-noser.

Re:Favre is cumming... back!!
The trophy is named after Vince, as you know. We essentially started this thing, and as much as it might mean to everyone involved on your team, it actually means more to us...just like Holmgren said the last time we won one.
I remain perpetually embarassed that you pulled a sweep on us last year...frankly, if I was in charge I would have to kill one or two of my players to set the tone after those losses-but they don't roll like me.
You just might pull this crap out of your collective butts again this year-no one knows-
It will still always be a "bought" team to me, (yours) and we plan to overcome that aspect anyway. It is about time you boys finally learn how it should be done in the NFL. You are incredibly hard-headed, but even a Minnesotan can be taught a trick or two if they hit in the head with an intellectual no-bounce hammer just enough times... It will take many hard hits, this I know, but I hold hope for you boys..perhaps once the team is in LA you will find some perspective- one can only hope for the perpetual provincials.
:P :woohoo:
