    Fan Fest Coming June 29
    By: Viking Update Staff

    Date: Jun 20, 2006

The Vikings second annual fan fest is scheduled for June 29 when current
and former players meet fans in Rochester in preparation for the 2006
season and give fans an up close and personal look at the team.

The Vikings will conduct their second annual fan fest Thursday, June 29
in Rochester. The program will be highlighted by appearances by current
and former Vikings players, as well as a chance to meet and have photos
taken with Vikings cheerleaders and team mascot Ragnar.

The program will begin at 3 p.m. with interactive activities for fans of
all ages. At 6 p.m. there will be a media roundtable discussion about
the prospects for the 2006 season followed by a pep rally at 7 p.m.
hosted by KFAN's "Mr. Fun" Joe Anderson.

There is no cover charge for the event, but it will provide fans an
opportunity to get the latest Vikings merchandise, including the
    new-look Vikings jerseys.

For more information, go to the Vikings website at www.vikings.com.

    TUESDAY NOTES
    * The war of words between Brad Childress and Daunte Culpepper
continues. When goaded by the Miami media to comment on his
unceremonious release from the Vikings in a trade to the Dolphins,
Culpepper said, "That was a new regime up there. Those guys, I don't
think they really knew me. If they did, they wouldn't question my
attitude and my determination to come back and be ready." The Dolphins
are targeting Culpepper to start opening day barring any setbacks and
some have speculated that he might be ready for the preseason opener in
    a cameo appearance.
    * Former Viking Brock Lesnar might be heading back to his day job --
professional wrestling. Lesnar was suing World Wrestling Entertainment
to get out of his contract, which stipulated he couldn't compete for a
rival wrestling organization until 2010. A judge dismissed the case
after attorneys for both Lesnar and WWE asked that the suit be dropped
-- which apparently will pave the way for Lesnar to return to WWE and
abandon his dreams of playing pro football.

I knew about it two weeks ago. Didn't know if it was worth posting, since so few of us here are near Rochester.

I only live about 40 miles from Rochester, but haven't gone to one yet.

With a lot of younger people here it pays to post these things, most of them don't like reading the newspaper.

    June 30, 2006

On Thursday the Minnesota Vikings and 1270AM KWEB, The Fan partnered to host the 2nd consecutive Vikings Fan Fest in Rochester. The event, open to the public, was held on the campus of Rochester Community Technical College.

The event featured appearances by current and former Vikings, interactive games, and a Punt, Pass, and Kick Competition. The crowd was also entertained by the Daredevil Dogz Frisbee Dog Show.

Gates opened at 3:00 to the public. Hundreds of fans, some dressed in Vikings memorabilia and others with their faces painted, gathered together, talked football, and showed their support for the Vikings. Current Vikings Tony Richardson and Ben Leber were signing autographs, as were Vikings alumni Joey Browner and Jim Marshall. At 4:30 the Punt, Pass, and Kick competition began. The competition was free to entrants, with kids in third through eighth grade participating. The winners had the chance to meet the Vikings players on stage.

The Daredevil Dogz Frisbee Dog Show began at 5:30. The Frisbee-catching dogs thrilled the crowd as they showed their athleticism and coordination. A roundtable discussion followed the dog show at 6:00. Joe Anderson led the discussion, with fellow KFAN personality Jeff Dubay, Vikings alumni and sideline reporter Greg Coleman, and 1270AM KWEB personality Greg Henn joining him.

The event concluded with a pep rally at 7:00. Anderson led the pep rally. Joe Anderson conducted interviews of alumni and current Vikings players on stage in front of the crowd as well. To cap off the night, members of the MVC tossed out Vikings footballs to the fans.
