Re: Ex-Vikings trio reach final 15 in Hall voting
Here's a quick breakdown on all the finalists and their stats.
I couldn't find detailed stats for Humphrey.
The teams are those they spent most of their years with, though they go in listed under every team they played for.
Some moved positions a little, but the listed position is where they spent most of their time.
Carter (Min, WR) 209 games started in 16 years, 8 pro bowls and 2 all-pros, 13899 yards receiving, 1101 receptions, 130 receiving TDs
Dawson (Pit, C) 181 games started in 13 years, 7 pro bowls and 6 all-pros
Dent (Chi, DE) 150 games started in 15 years, 4 pro bowls and 1 all-pro, 137.5 sacks, 671 tackles
Grimm (Was, G) 114 games started in 11 years, 4 pro bowls and 3 all-pros
Hayes (Dal, WR) played 11 years, 3 pro bowls and 2 all-pros, 7,414 receiving yards, 371 receptions, 71 receiving TDs, senior committee nomination
Humphrey (Atl, DE) played 14 years, 6 pro bowls and 2 all-pros, senior committee nomination
Kennedy (Sea, DT) 153 games started in 11 years, 8 pro bowls and 3 all-pros, 58 sacks, 568 tackles
Kuechenberg (Mia, G) 176 Games started in 14 years, 6 pro bowls and 1 all-pro
McDaniel (Min, G) 220 games started in 14 years, 12 pro bowls and 7 all-pros
Randle (Min, DT) 185 games started in 14 years, 7 pro bowls and 6 all-pros, 137.5 sacks, 471 tackles
Reed (Buf, WR) 217 games started in 16 years, 7 pro bowls, 13198 yards receiving, 951 receptions, 87 receiving TDs
Sharpe (Den, TD) 169 games started in 14 years, 8 pro bowls and 4 all-pros, 10060 receiving yards, 815 receptions, 62 TDs
Smith (Buf, DE) 267 games started in 19 years, 11 pro bowls and 8 all-pros, 200 sacks, 1078 tackles
Thomas (KC, LB) 157 games started in 11 years, 9 pro bowls and 2 all-pros, 126.5 sacks, 601 tackles
Woodson (Pit, DB) 229 games started in 15 years, 11 pro bowls and 6 all-pros, 71 interceptions, 1050 tackles
I would put Smith and Woodson in as locks.
Randle is close, but I am aware of the history of snubbing Vikings players.
In the next group of likely players this year, I would put Carter and Sharpe.
It's ridiculous that Carter didn't get in last year.
Then for possible players, I would put Thomas and McDaniel.
McDaniel should definitely get in, but has also been cursed by the team he played for.
The contributors on the ballot are Tagliabue and Ralph Wilson.
Wilson has a better shot than Tagliabue, but neither has a great chance in my opinion. When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]

Great stuff.

If Strahan goes in before Randle I am gonna have to give up on the whole HOF thing.
Number 64 should be a shoe in this year. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Very confusing with Randall and Randle...maybe that's what's keeping these 2 shoe-ins from getting in.Any man who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood. - H.L. Mencken

It would be nice to see all three make it, they're all very deserving.
Granted, so are the other 12 guys
