That's so sad.
I remember Wally as a player, and always liked him.
I also enjoyed the fact that he stayed around the T.C. area after his playing days.

Too bad I never had a chance to see him play back in the days of the Purple People Eaters.

RIP Wally, you were an inspiration to us all

Great player. RIP.
What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. Its the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"

I saw Wally play a lot. Hard-nose kind of guy and a funny practical joker. I loved this quote in the article:
I was glad to hear that."Wally had a tremendously strong Christian strength and that really carried him toward the end," said Bob Lurtsema, Hilgenberg's former teammate with the Vikings. "At the end he was at peace with himself."Kentucky Vikes Fan

When you require nothing, you get nothing; when you expect nothing, you will find nothing; when you embrace nothing, all you will have is nothing.
