And, some perspective from Alex Marvez…

@AlexMarvez, Bronco's were in heavy pursuit of Everson Griffen and dangled deal worth $9M/year, which forced Vikings to improve their offer to keep him.

Happy to have an explanation on who exactly was competing with the Vikings.

And after seeing the contract details, it's not that bad anyway. After 2 seasons he can be released being owed nothing with only a $3 million cap hit. But hopefully it works out better than that.
    Skol Vikings! Go Cubs!

Griffen played behind a future Hall of Famer that is on record refusing to leave the field and give up snaps. Was Griffen going to pick up starts over Jared Allen? Was Griffen going to put Robison on the bench?

If Jared Allen was going to leave, it would have been better to give Griffen more snaps to see how he holds up as more than a situational player.

Michael Johnson, and Michael Bennett got the same amount and they were way more productive... Given i think Griffen is more versatile.
Johnson went south, and Bennett wanted to play for Seattle.

Yeah ... I do not get how this is overpaying.

A few have talked about how we gave "elite" money for an unproven player. The fact is, this is NOT elite DE money ... elite DE money is 8 figures+. This was a good deal. The only deal close was the Michael Johnson deal, and honestly, I don't see any reason to think that Johnson is a superior player to Griffen.
