Wow people still in love with the Pats.

Ravens should be easily in the top 5.

Saints only play one side, but when you play that side as well as they do, even against a defense like the Eagles, teams are going to find it very hard to keep up. I doubt McNabb would have been able to make up the 26pt deficit, but would have made it closer.
Saints are scary good on offense.
The key is for them to keep rolling as the weather changes.
I haven't looked at their schedule but it's the games in Nov and Dec that they will need to win.
As most of us know it's much tougher to pass the ball during those months and it's usually when the running teams really start taking over.
The upside for the Saints is they play at the dome for home games which will play a huge role.
I actually had the Saints as my sleeper pick before the season starts and so far it's been correct.
But again the key is how they play late in the season as the weather changes.

Vikings being ranked 5th would be about 3 spots higher then where I would put them at this point.
With that said, I also think the Vikings can match up against any team in the NFL right now and play them extremely tough so I can understand why they have them ranked at 5.

    Re: ESPN Power Rankings

It is waaaaay too early to start "anointing" teams. I have to admit that I was excited to see us at nr. 5, but let's face it, we have only played the Browns and Lions. Bill Parcells used to call this part of the season "the anointing phase", when the media start anointing teams as "the best". It usually changes. Remember that momentum is extremely important in the NFL. The team - often a wildcard - that gets hot during the playoffs wins it. And we are very far away from January...

Also, let's just remember that playing "hot" on a sunny day in September with no injuries is a lot different than playing in January, when it is cold and windy and you have 16 games or more behind you, plus key injuries (teams that can "air it out in September" get beat on a cold, windy day by a team that can "pound the rock"). The teams that often look hot now, fade when the cold winds start to blow (another reason I think we need to get home field throughout the playoffs, too).

i think this is a fair position for us...i mean, it doesnt really matter right now...just gotta take care of business and be the #1 after the superbowl, thats all that matters
    Ponder this....

Well the last time we were No. 1 on most of these things we went 3-7 and missed the playoffs.
