Vikings notebook: Elling will miss remainder of season

Elling will miss remainder of season
INDIANAPOLIS -- Vikings kickoff specialist Aaron Elling will miss the rest of the season after fracturing his right ankle in the fourth quarter of the Vikings' 31-28 loss to Indianapolis on Monday night.
Elling suffered the injury after tackling Colts returner Dominic Rhodes along the left sideline to stop a 44-yard return.
Elling, who was released as the Vikings' placekicker in training camp but returned in Week 2 as a kickoff specialist, had been excelling in his new role on kickoffs, but he will be placed on injured reserve today.
The Vikings almost certainly will sign a kickoff specialist to replace him in time for Sunday's game at Green Bay.
Kevin Seifert, Jerry Zgoda and Patrick Reusse contributed to this notebook.
Right when the specail teams coverage was clicking the injuries hit again. I thought elling was doin a pretty good job of kicking lately. So where do we go from here, who's gonna do kick offs.

I'm worried about our punting too. D. Bennett has like the lowest average in the league and had two really crappy kicks last night.

Our kicking game is horrendous, but what else is new! Elling, I thought, had been doing a pretty good job the past few weeks on kickoffs. Consistently at or inside the 5. I don't think that's horrible.

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!

How Can YOU Say GOOD to someone being injured![/size]
You are pointing your finger at the wrong person. Point it at the person in charge that chose a kicker that can't do both kick offs and FGs.

If anyone was upset with using two roster spots for kicking and kick offs, the solution was to have kept Conway instead of signing Andersen. Luckily we haven't had to kick a long ass FG to win a game. Elling would have had to attemp it and he isn't even accurate enough to take the job away from Andersen.Conway, I suppose is available.
By the way, Andersen has missed a couple of easy FG also.
Sorry about the negativity but the comment about Elling getting hurt is still pissing me off.
