Edwards Still Wants Out of SD
http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/chargers/20060825-9999-1s25edwards.html
It seems as though he is still available if a team is willing to give up a 3rd rounder.
The Chargers may be willing to drop to a 4th if he doesn't go soon.
No other teams besides the Saints have inquired about Edwards.
Read the article.
It's a pretty good assessment of Edwards.

Seriously, I wouldn't mind seeing him here.

Re: Edwards Still Wants Out of SD
Umm yeah, if there was ever a player that Spielman should pick to help this team it would be this guy...what a steal that would be.

I mean don't get me wrong I like Harris but Edwards is a proven Leader and Animal at MLB, Harris can backup a few years and learn lol.

Oh boy
here we go again I don't care what his positives are at this point bringing a player who has never played the system and who has not practiced at all in San Diego because of his back after we have played three preseason games is not a good idea at all under any situation in any existing sport.Minnesota Vikings : Simply the best

As for his "injury", he is no more injured than Branch is in NE.
Fact is, now that Greenway is out for the season, we need another LB.
A third-rounder is not much to give for him, even if it is only for this season.
Past 3rd rounders for the Vikes:
2005 - Dustin Fox (backup)
2004 - Darrion Scott (backup)
2003 - Nate Burleson (gone)
2002 - Willie Offord (backup)
2001 - Eric Kelly (gone)
2000 - Doug Chapman (career backup - gone)
1999 - None
1998 - Ramos McDonald (loser - gone)
1997 - Stalin Colinet (loser - gone)
1996 - Moe Williams (fan favorite, spot starter, goal-line specialist - gone, sadly)
1995 - None
1994 - None
1993 - John Gerak (WHO?)
The point is that NONE of those players (with the POSSIBLE exception of Moe) gave us anything near the production that Edwards COULD give us even in ONE YEAR.
The bottom line is that the trade would be well worth it even if he ONLY gave us this season and then walked.BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

When has he played in the Tampa 2 I don't see any connection of him to it and just because you list a couple of third rounders who may not have worked doesn't mean a 33 year old won't suffer the same faults if used with no practice after having played the 3-4 for most of his past few years our depth is fine as is.Minnesota Vikings : Simply the best

Re: Edwards Still Wants Out of SD
Our linebackers have looked solid this preseason. They fly to the ball, and that is not what we saw with Cotrell's ass. They look much quicker, and seem to know their positioning on the defense as well, so wasting a third round pick for a one year stopgap is not a wise idea.

Re: Edwards Still Wants Out of SD
Since being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth round of the 1996 NFL Draft, all Edwards has done is produced, produced and produced some more. He has played hard, giving 100 percent every single time he's stepped on the field. And in his 10 seasons in the league, amazingly he has only missed two games. That's it. Count 'em. One, two. That's amazing for a player who hits as hard as he does, and is seemingly in on every tackle. Even more incredible about it, though, is the last time he missed a game: 1998. For those of you counting at home, that's seven seasons ago. Edwards has played injured, and remarkably, still at an amazing clip. This past season was one of his finest yet.
Check out these eye popping numbers. 101, 122, 122, 132, 129, 128, 161, 150, 152. If you're wondering, those are the number of tackles he has racked up in the past nine seasons. Every year, the tremendous linebacker seems to get stronger and better. His last three seasons are his three highest tackle outputs.
Tackling isn't the only thing he does exceptionally well. He has intercepted five passes in three different seasons, which is remarkable for a linebacker. Edwards also has a knack for forcing fumbles, and has scored four touchdowns.
Aside from all the tools--the perfect tackling technique, the speed, the non-stop motor, the consummate team player, and great attitude--the man behind the facemask and off the gridiron is also extremely admirable.
He has set up numerous charities in his native San Diego, giving copious hours of his time to these charities. He treats everyone with the utmost respect, and in turn has a rabid loyal fan base.
