    Edinger History-A drunk

    EDINGER, PAUL
    7/01
Chicago Bears kicker Paul Edinger was charged Saturday with drunken driving after he crashed into mail boxes in a residential community. The 23-year-old player was arrested for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident after police found his vehicle in Punta Gorda Isles, a residential neighborhood. Police said he crashed into three mail boxes before striking a large rock. He then backed up and drove away, before two flat tires forced him to stop. Witnesses called police, who say they found an open beer in the SUV. Edinger then failed a roadside sobriety test, police said. He was taken to the county jail, where his bail was set at $500.

    Don't forget about Bennett

    2/01
Former Wisconsin running back Michael Bennett was formally charged with two misdemeanors Thursday in connection with an incident in which he allegedly kicked in a woman's door. Bennett, 22, was charged with criminal damage to property and unlawful use of a telephone, both misdemeanors, according to the Dane County District Attorney's office. If convicted of both charges, Bennett could face up to a year in jail and fines up to $10,000. Bennett was arrested last week for allegedly making several harassing phone calls to a woman in his apartment building and then kicking in her door causing more than $200 damage. He was released on a signature bond after Dane County Court Commissioner Todd E. Meurer ordered him to have no contact with the woman or three of her friends. Court records indicate Bennett admitted making abusive comments to the woman, but he denied damaging her door. Bennett skipped his senior season at Wisconsin to turn pro.

    Kenny Mixon.....

    11/03
Minnesota Vikings defensive end Kenny Mixon was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving early Tuesday, the second member of the team arrested in the past few days. Mixon, 28, spent about four hours in the Hennepin County jail before posting a $12,000 bond. Police said Mixon was driving erratically shortly before 3 a.m., and was found with open containers of suspected alcoholic beverages. He was also driving with a revoked license. Mixon registered 0.19 percent on a blood-alcohol test, police said. Mixon was charged with drunken driving in January, but was found innocent in April after a short trial. Minnesota's legal limit is 0.10 percent.

    Smooter.....

    SMOOT, FRED
    3/01
Mississippi State All-American cornerback Fred Smoot, who is expected to be an early round pick in this week's NFL draft, was arrested in March for marijuana possession, but the charges were dropped last week, court officials said. An Oktibbeha County Justice Court Clerk said Monday the case went to court on April 10 and the charges were dropped because they were not prosecuted by the arresting officer. The 5-foot-11 1/2 , 175-pounder started 11 games for Mississippi State in 2000, but was ruled academically ineligible for the Independence Bowl, where the Bulldogs beat Texas A&M 43-41 in overtime..

    E.J.?

    HENDERSON, E.J.
    9/01
Maryland's E.J. Henderson, the ACC Player of the Year, has been recharged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and driving while intoxicated, the Washington Post reported on Tuesday. Henderson was originally charged by campus police on Sept. 30, but prosecutors dropped the charges when witnesses -- including a campus officer -- failed to attend a hearing. The charges were refiled on Wednesday at the request of the State Attorney's office. It was unclear why the charges were refiled, the Post reports. Henderson's attorney, Tim Maloney, told the Post that the player plans to plead not guilty to the new charges.

    Johnstone.....a ruthless muthaf*****

    JOHNSTONE, LANCE
The Saints displayed that resiliency Sunday, fighting back from deficits of 17-0 and 31-16 to make a game of it until the final minutes. The Raiders (9-2) gave them incentive after Blake went down with 1:58 remaining in the first quarter. Defensive end Lance Johnstone caused the injury after he tackled Blake from behind and fell on his lower right leg. Johnstone then added insult to Blake's injury, openly celebrating after the play as Blake lay crumpled at his feet. "Whenever you start celebrating while there's a player laying hurt on the field, that's the kind of (stuff) that bothers me," center Jerry Fontenot said. "That's purely uncalled for."

DAVID PALMER???? Remember him....Vikings Kick Returner

    PALMER, DAVID
    12/02
Former Alabama star and NFL player David Palmer was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession. Police Chief Byron Pigg said Palmer was arrested Thursday when police went to serve a warrant at an apartment where they suspected drugs were being sold. Drugs were later found at the apartment. Police were watching the apartment when Palmer and another man came out and got into a car. They were arrested minutes later when the car was stopped at a road block, but the other man got away and ran into the woods. Palmer, 30, did not attempt to escape and followed officers' instructions. He was charged and released from the Fultondale Jail after he posted $500 bond

    ROBERT TATE

    TATE, ROBERT
    2/00
Robert Tate Jr. a Minnesota Vikings defensive back and special teams player, has been ordered to stay away from the mother of his child after admitting he threatened the woman. Sherita Jackson said in court papers that Tate threatened during a Feb. 11 telephone call to ``get my cousin to beat' her. She also said he hit her while she was pregnant with their daughter, now 7. ``I am really scared of him threatening me with his cousin, because I do not know what they are capable of doing,' Jackson wrote in an affidavit. Tate and Jackson have been arguing over support payments for the girl since before 1998. Tate's attorney, Jeff Foreman, said Tate regrets the threatening remarks and that they were out of character. ``His concern has been to maintain contact with his child,' Foreman said. ``But there was a conversation during which he said things he now regrets. It will certainly never occur again.' Common Pleas Judge Jeannine Turgeon signed the five-page agreement Wednesday after meeting with Foreman and Jackson's attorney, Melissa Peel Greevy. Greevy declined comment. In the agreement, Tate, 27, agreed not to harass or contact Jackson. He also must undergo anger-management counseling.

Byron Chaimberland....from my alma mater...Wayne State College, Nebraska

    7/03
The NFL suspended Minnesota Vikings tight end Byron Chamberlain for the first four games of the season for violating the league's policy on banned substances. Chamberlain tested positive for ephedra, an over-the-counter stimulant which speeds the heart rate and constricts blood vessels. In an interview with WCCO-TV in Minneapolis, Chamberlain said he misread the label on a product he was using and believed it was ephedra-free.

    LEROY HOARD

    HOARD, LEROY
Minnesota Vikings running back Leroy Hoard was arrested outside a Miami Beach nightclub early Saturday and charged with possession of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct, police said. Police said they found what they believe to be the drug ecstasy in Hoard's pocket when they were arresting him on disorderly conduct charges following a fight with his girlfriend. The cream colored pills had a marijuana leaf stamped on one side, according to Miami Beach Police Lt. Robert Dorigo. An off-duty officer working at Club Zen heard Hoard arguing with his girlfriend. He called in other officers when the fight became physical. ``It started out verbal, then it became a little physical -- pushing, shoving and ... a car door was pushed into his companion,' Dorigo said. The officers arrested Hoard after he refused to calm down. ``He was highly agitated,' Dorigo said. ``The officer gave him numerous opportunities to calm done and leave, but unfortunately things had escalated and the officer had concern about the safety of (Hoard's) companion and people in the area.' Hoard repeatedly swore at officers, according to Dorigo. ``It was right in the middle of traffic. He was next to a limousine, he was causing traffic to back up,' said Dorigo.

Oooh, Derek Ross....he's still on the team, or not???

    ROSS, DEREK
    3/01
Ohio State defensive back Derek Ross was sentenced to 30 days in jail for giving a false name to a trooper who stopped him for speeding. If he serves the full sentence that began Thursday, Ross will miss most of spring football, which runs March 31 to April 28. The 21-year-old sophomore from Rock Hill, S.C., was stopped Wednesday evening for driving 85 mph in a 65 mph zone on an interstate, State Highway Patrol Sgt. Ty Walker said. The trooper could not find information under the name Ross provided, so he took him to the Heath Police Department. Ross admitted who he was after the trooper followed leads through the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Walker said. He was charged with speeding, furnishing false information and driving under a suspended license. Ross was ordered to pay $703 in fines and court costs. His driver's license had been suspended in 1997, Walker said. He was on probation for driving under a suspended license in 1998.

    Mount McKinney

    McKINNIE, BRYANT
    6/02
Minnesota Vikings holdout offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie is being sued for allegedly attacking, beating and severely injuring a man this summer. The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Miami-Dade County, accused McKinnie and three others of beating up Anthony Sloan, 29, at a gas station in Miami on June 29. The lawsuit said McKinnie, without provocation, willfully and maliciously threatened, shouted obscenities at, assaulted, battered and struck Sloan numerous times in the head and body. It also said McKinnie advised and encouraged the three other men -- Zander Robinson, Lamar Sturdivant and Terry Collins -- to do the same to Sloan. Sloan's attorney, Robert Eber, said his client and McKinnie were at Club Rolexx in Miami that night, and McKinnie later mistakenly identified Sloan for a man who robbed him outside the club. McKinnie was not charged by police, Eber said, but others with him were. McKinnie, the seventh overall pick in this year's NFL draft and the only first-round pick to not sign, is the lone defendant. According to the suit, Sloan sustained permanent injuries and disfigurement, suffered pain and mental anguish, incurred medical expenses and lost wages. Sloan and his wife, Yolanda, are seeking damages in excess of $15,000
