I only have "man-love" for one player - Jared Allen.

I am big fans of AD, Tjack, Rice, Birk, Sharper, CT, E.J., and Winfield.

    Allen is a beast.
He is tough as nails, funny, dresses awesome, drives sweet rides like the caddy with horns on the hood, etc.
He is my favorite athlete in all of professional sports.
    Booom!

I never truly understood the meaning of man-love until Jared Allen came into my life.

Re: Dressed to sack: Jared Allen out to validate Vikings' investment

I read an interview with Allen, where he said, he constantly talks trash with the opposing players. He said, he is relentless, and will stay stuff like "you got beat again", "you suck", "quit", etc. (he said, the only thing that is off-limits is their wife or kids). Everything else goes.

He said something like "when they get so mad and out of their game that want to fight me, I have basically won".

BTW, my current Purple "Man love" list:

    1. Winfield
    2. Greenway
    3. Pat Williams
    4. Peterson
    5. Kleinsasser
    6. Booty ! ;D

    on deck:
    - Sharper, Gus, E.J., Chester.

I remember reading or hearing somewhere a long time ago about some player (can't remember who) trash talking Doug Flutie about his handicapped child.
Seemed a bit over the top but I bet it really throws them out of their game.

Yes, that is pretty uncool (like hecklers at games who are not funny, but only rude and obnoxious).

I remember Brian Cox, linebacker for the Bears, talking about the visualizations he would do during a game:

"I used to imagine that the guy blocking me was Nazi leader Hermann Goering, and he has my kids in his car".

    That was funny.

    Nice read and nice find.
I'm pumped to see if Pat and Kevin actually show up for the game dressed like that.
I am thinking about waiting out back to see if I can catch a glimpse.

PS where is Ray Edwards in all of this

Interesting quote from AD on that (link):

"It's a little weird for someone to call you Purple Jesus," Peterson said. "I am a religious guy. I know that no one can be compared to Jesus or anything like that. But I look at it like this: I know what they're saying. They're not saying I'm the messiah. They're just saying that I've come in here and kept hope alive. In that aspect, it's pretty cool."
But then another from GQ more recently (link):

Everyone here calls him “AD,” for All Day, a nickname he was first given when he was a toddler—not for his prowess on the field but for his nonstop energy. (The other nickname he gets here in Minnesota is “Purple Jesus,” which he loathes.)
Based on the identical verbiage, I can only assume that Singer is a huge GQ reader.
When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]
