    Draft question.

So what has gone on with Tyler Thigpen? Did he make the team so far?

I'm just asking because I thought of something last night. Not to second guess this years draft since it was great, but I am still a little baffled on the Thigpen pick.

We know T-Jack is young, and our project. Bollinger is the back up, and we might sign another QB yet too, with experience.

So Thigpen probably will not play a down this year, and could not serve any purpose during the game because of his lack of experience. So what I ask is: Did that pick make sense and just go down as a wasted pick?

Brandon Siler (a good MLB from FL) was still on the board then. Wouldn't it have made better sense to get someone who we could maybe use, or maybe get a shot? It almost just feels like we wasted a pick. I haven't heard anything about Thigpen yet, but I just think there is no chance for him to play on this team. Maybe 3rd string at best, but what good is that w/o experience? (He can't help T-Jack from the sidelines is what I mean.)

So I don't know. Maybe we just wasted a 7th round pick. Not a big deal, but still kind of a waste when there are other players at other positions we could have maybe used or gave a fair chance to.

    What do you guys think?

I think the triangle just thought he was too good of talent to pass on that late in the draft.

It's a frickin' 7th rounder. It doesn't matter that much. If they like him enough I'm on board, I don't expect much from 7th rounders anyway.

If he beats out Henson he makes at least the practice squad even if we sign someone later on.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

Through OTAs and mini-camp, he has not been cut.

    Which matters about this ->
<- in the overall scheme of things.

As Cogs points out - it was a 7th-round pick.
Those guys generally don't make teams.

    That's probably true.

I know, but Tom Brady was a 7th rounder too...

I just feel with T-Jack here, he doesn't have a good shot at making a difference. A spot like MLB or DE would have just given us a little more of an option. Either way, it's not a huge deal. Just a thought.

I would like to say though that on draft day I were hoping we would use one of our two 7th rounders on one of the TEs.

But whatever the scouts and coaches see, I'll allways be on board with it in the last round.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

    Well....Umm....

I rounded up. Yeah, see he was picked up in the upper half of the 6th, so technically....

    Shut up Zeus.

Technically, the 33rd pick of the 6th round is not the upper half.
It is the lower half of the round.

If a player is a "higher" pick they are taken sooner than later.

    Re: Draft question.

I agree with the "who cares" of this post.
He was a 7th round pick.
However, when they took him I believe I heard something about transforming him into a WR but Thigpin doesn't want to go for that.
I think the triangle was looking at another WR that can also back up as QB.
There's a lot you can do with WRs that can throw.
