I would say that traffic is bad around the Dome.

I am afraid that big people are going to get the shaft with anything new. Build it cheap and cram everyone in seems to be the motto.

How close is this Stadium from getting funding?

If they build a new stadium they need to keep it covered, i say dont even worry about putting a retractable roof on it, I think the noise in the covered field is great. BTW they WILL get a new stadium. The NFL has said many times they want to keep the Vikings in Minnesota and are looking to move some other team. The only reason that is a "scare" is because of Red. Once he sells, we will get a new staduim, then we will be set.

I have never been to the Metrodome, but I can sympathize with Shockzilla. I am not near as tall as he is, but I can understand his suffering. The most important of his suggestions has to do with the location of the stadium. I am a firm believer that in large metropolitan areas, the best location for football stadiums is in the suburbs. As opposed to basketball, baseball and hockey, the games are only one day a week. This limited usage of prime downtown land is stupid, as it makes more sense to purchase cheaper land outside the metro which can bring the total cost down or allow for more amenities to be added to the stadium. It also allows for more parking, better road and light rail infrastructure and room for expansion. Unlike football, which is usually an all day type of event, the other three sports need downtown arenas because they attract many people who attend games after work, making those events more of a night out thing. All in all, it just makes more sense to locate the new stadium in the 'burbs. Good take overall, Shock!

Thanks, Cajunvike - I feel I have been to the Metrodome enough that I can give a good take on what's good and what's bad about it. Like I said, it's a great "atmosphere" for football in particular, and sports in general, but they really built that place "on the cheap", so to speak. Hell, I'd be willing to pay a little extra in taxes if they build something decent!

About the comment about Indy hosting more fans, they have the smallest stadium in the league as far as capacity. A poll comes out every year asking players many different questions. One of them is; where is the worst place to play? Number 1 answer: The Dome!!! Why? Number 1 answer: The Noise!!! Keep it rockin' for me guys!

The basement is the loudest room in my house every Sunday!!
