In Minnesota it really needs to be a retractable roof stadium. Being indoors on a warm, sunny day is almost as intolerable as being outdoors on a subzero day. A retractable roof stadium would be a huge boost to the state's economy and to the Twin Cities. If the biggest mall in America is the Mall of America based in the Twin Cities, then surely a retractable roof stadium is not too awesome for the Twin Cities.

Otherwise, it sadly looks like it will be outdoors in Los Angeles. *barf*
They are making the mall even bigger. They opened up another level.

I honestly think that if any public funds are used to construct the stadium, then it needs to be retractable roof at a minimum.
IF a retractable roof is too expensive, then we need to put a fixed roof on.

In order for a new stadium to be able to recoup public dollars, it needs to have a roof.

I also think that outdoor football in Minnesota in December and January is miserable.
Back when we were fielding perennial super bowl teams at the Old Met, we still couldn't sell out the 48,000 seat stadium in the winter months.
Anybody who thinks that we could sell out a much larger stadium now is ignoring the facts.
Anyone in Minnesota who likes to watch the games on TV would pretty much be screwed in the winter months.

    I guess that is true.

Hell, the Packers can't sell out their games in their outdoor stadium so why should we think we could do it here?

I'm surprised to see the poll so even so far..I thought outdoor would win by landslide. Me personally though, I like indoor for reasons already stated.

The Bills want the dome open this weekend in Toronto (with Miami coming) but the league won't let them.
    Wow, that's funny.
The league shouldn't have any say in the matter though.
What, are they trying to appeal to the Miami fans coming in for the game?

If a roof is retractable I'd want to see it open in temperatures above 10 degrees fahrenheit... unless there's snow in the forecast.

    Good points all around.
Just like Tad7, I am surprised indoors is ahead 10-9 so far.
IMO, the NFL is ten fold more popular than when the dome opened in '82.
I believe more people would attend outdoor playoff games.
    I'm with ultravikingfan.
Football is an outdoor sport, peroid.

    Re: The Dome

but if there's any hope of keeping the vikings in minnesota we NEED an indoor stadium.
the vikings WILL NOT sell out when we're playing crappy in december.
We're not a big market, so we won't make enough money to stay.

So the vikings could go to LA? That would be crazy I live in California. Does that mean the people in minnesota root for another team or the same team?
