    Does Leftwich Interest Anyone?

It is abundantly clear to me that Bollinger is not a viable #2 and we need to do something.
Just picked this up...wuddya all think?
Don't know if Leftwich is the answer and I know there is alot of speculation and support about Kelly Holcomb...but, Bollinger simply isn't getting it done IMO.
I realize it's pre-season, but, it's almost over and the show is about to begin.
Intersted in your opinions about Leftwich, Bollinger (maybe I'm crazy), or other options.

    Jags might cut Leftwich?
The Florida Times-Union suggests the Jaguars might consider cutting Byron Leftwich to avoid paying his $5.145 million base salary. We say go for it. They know this isn't working, the fans know it isn't working - and either David Garrard or Quinn Gray deserve an extended look.

It's painfully obvious that Bollinger is not what we need at 2nd string QB, Leftwich isn't the kind of QB we will find. Byron isn't a WCO QB, he holds the ball, has a big wind-up and cannot move very well. I more expect us to outbid anybody for Holcomb.

I would prefer Holcomb over Leftwich myself.. Holcomb is familiar with the WCO, and that is very important as we start the regular season soon.. I have been saying all along that Bollinger is not the answer for the backup spot.. With all of that aside, we need to do something rather quickly, and I hope they make the right decision..

Leftwich would probably want to have a chance at the starting job if he came here. I don't like his throwing motion either. He hasn't looked all that sharp in the preseason. If we can get a veteran like Holcombe or Warner i'll be fine. Bollinger just won't cut it though.

Lets look at this from another standpoint.

Assumption is that all TJ needs is time to develop.
Assumption is that the coaching staff as well as owner are cool with developing said starter.
Assumption is that the backup would only come in if TJ went down.
Fact is that we have someone on the bench with the same qualities/makeup as TJ.
Fact is that the coaching staff as well as the owner are cool with developing a young QB
Fact is that if TJ goes down Pigpen could come in and get said experience.

Honestly, what is really the big difference here?

TJ has two more starts in regular season than Pigpen.
TJ has had more reps with the number ones.
TJ has had possibly more one on one coaching than Pigpen.

Really, in my eyes its a wash, if TJ goes down, Pigpen comes in.
Hell with giving up draft picks for a washed up has been or never was.

    :

    But hey, thats just me.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

I would like to see TJack play a couple series in this last game and then have Henson and Thigpen get a serious audition to see if one of them CAN be the primary backup.
Unfortunately Childress seems to have an unhealthy addiction to former players that cannot play in the NFL. :-[
So we probably see BB for at least a quarter.
I want to see Thigpen play for a whole half.
Rock out with your cock out!!!

    I like your thinking.

We'd probably loose if we had to turn to Pigpen, but hell with that, it would be the right move.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

    Hell no

Thigpen is the savior in waiting. There is no need for Leftwich on our club.
