Didn't we learn anything with the DreamTeam????

Our secondary bears an uncanny resemblance to the Ol' Olympic basketball DreamTeam. You can't put a bunch of individual all-stars together and expect them to be as great. History has shown that across all of sports. We need to draft a secondary who knows how to play together. Can you say "Lake Placid - 1980??"

One more thought. Brad seems to be a smart guy. He proved that with the Buc's. Sign another QB, Can Tice, and promote Brad to head coach. We can't get much worse.

Our secondary has the people. I think it is blatantly clear that our coaches are slow to any modification to the game plan. Even when you want to compliment them on great game adjustment like the Green Bay game they come back and say they changed nothing. You don't start two seasons in a row 6-0 and 5-1 and then end 3-7 with the coaches unable to modify game plans. How long do you watch Smoot get burned before you give the man some help from the safeties. And it's not all his fault, there is no corner in the league that can cover Smith with no pass rush. I have seen every game for the last 25 years and cannot remember getting demolished this many times before halftime. I'm sorry but we will win a couple but Tice is gone after this season. This season I felt like a out of control school girl before the season watching the free agent pickups but all it did was exemplify the inadequecy of our coaching staff. Remember Cotrell gushing of the talent that he had. Well he has no excuse for being in the the botoom feeders of the defense. If the the reason is because people are not in position well than that falls in his lap also. I don't post often but GOD I can't replace my TV every year.

    You gotta start somewhere.

I say start the second string next week, and send a message to the starters. $hit or get off the pot. What do we have to loose? Weather we loose by 24 or 54, a loss is a loss.

They were far from a Dream Team.

Yes, they are good...but not the elite.

    Ultra,

I agree that they are not a literal DreamTeam. My point was that you can't just go out and get a bunch of really good players, throw them together, go on nat'l TV and brag them up, and expect them all of a sudden be great. There has to be some chemistry there. Not just between the players, but between the coaches of those players also. Maybe if we can keep them together long enough, they'll gel up and start playing together as a secondary, i.e. knowing when to help each other out instinctivly no matter what play is called.

Just a side note, how good of a head coach would Rich Gannon make? Think he could go into the locker room and shake things up a bit?

we had the talent, and it didnt work out. but we had to do something in the offseason to try and help our defense. and only good addition we have is fat pat. he is the only one helping us from what we had last year.
chemistry is always a big problem on any team no matter how long you have been together. but i agree you cant just throw a team full of egos together and expect them to win.
    We're bringing purple back.

i have no problem with the players. the secondary is only as good as the pass rush. the vikings only have a total of 9 sacks this year, they can't cover guys for that long of time. cottrell needs to start blitzin like baltimore and pittsburg.
